They have to prove that it was YOU that actually downloaded the file. If you have a wireless network, it could very well be someone else who had hacked into your network, so from this perspective they need to prove that it was actually you who had committed this infraction. You are not obligated to reveal or offer any of their demands. I am guessing the letters will stop after a little while.

The letters are just scare tactics.

I wouldn't worry about it.

If they are going to accuse you of it then you might as well go ahead and download it.

Now if they were to accuse you of uploading a film, then you might have something to worry about.

Just delete the movie and move on. (After burning it, of course.) No big deal!!

Don't know what the laws are where you live but if it is in North Pango Pango the penalties are very severe. They cut off your nuts in a public square if you don't pay up with in five days of receiving the letter.

Actually he's from South Pango Pango. There, they do it with a little more class; they impale you through your rectum and plant you on a large pole while the town crier rambles down all your sins.:pokey:

That's nothing! In East Pango Pango, they chop of your balls, put them in a blender, then force you to drink via a funnel, all while Yanni's greatest hits is playing in the background. It's really quite terrible.

If its the first letter just ignore it, if they follow with another reply and deny any involvement.
