I installed WinMX 3.1 a little after 12:00 am Monday, and by 4:00 am I had downloaded two very new movies (that shall remain nameless). Together the two Movies where 646 MB, perfect size for a CD (they had been divided into two parts each also), now I can burn a few copies and impress my modem using friends.
When I had heard about WinMX in the past I thought it was just for Music, so I didn’t even try it (I have all the MP3’s I can stand). I am so glad to finally find a fast place to download movies after the feature films dried up on Gnutella. Recently I had been considering going to the theater or video store, I haven’t done that since “Xolox version 1.09” came out, but now can I actually download AVI’s faster than I can watch my them.
I have a sub-standard Cable Internet provider, normaly 100 KB/Sec is extremely good for me, last night I saw speeds higher than I had ever seen before on my computer. Maybe my Internet provider upgraded their equipment, who knows? WinMX made use of bandwidth I didn’t even know I had, and I could still browse the Net without my Browser being noticeably sluggish too.
