I remember seeing Cheap Trick in Tulsa back in the early 80's.
I left before the show was even over because, while Cheap Trick is alright, I just couldn't take an hour and a half of them at full volume, and their show got boring... fast.

got back from a killer concert weekend.
saturday night's lineup: ross neilsen and the sufferin' bastards, respectables and gordie johnson (aka my next husband), matt mays, black crowes.
sunday night's lineup: futures past, bmlinx, die mannequin, age of daze, live.
saturday's shows were awesome despite the 44.8 mm of rain that fell, which rendered my poncho useless. thankfully i'd remembered not to wear a white teeshirt. rain stopped in time for the crowes. they had sandalwood incense burning, and chris robinson took the stage in a floppy hat and houseslippers :)
sunday's acts were a little uneven, but live was amazing. and no rain. woot.
we were second row both nights, hope to have some good pics soon.

Rock The Garden (http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/features/specials/rock_the_garden/) was on Saturday. I volunteered, so admission to the entire thing was free. Wasn't feeling well as the Decemberists took stage, so I left early. I heard the show and encore were amazing. Yeasayer and Calexico were pretty kickass though.
I must say though, I kinda wish I hadn't seen so many pregnant women walking around drinking beers.

too bad you had to miss some of it, but at least it was free. saw a couple of pregnant women drinking at this one too- has nobody heard of FAS? oh well.
here's a couple of pics my friend kerri took of the crowes and live, won't bore you with the other 119 pics :)

saw another soggy concert, yay. marianas trench (good) and daughtry (snore). his best song of the night, oddly enough, was a cover of lady gaga's "pokerface". the rest was a cure for insomnia.

I saw Elvis Costello last night at the Taste of Minnesota. $10 admission (food & drink tickets), so the show was basically free.
Fucking. Sweet.

Well, the Taste goes on for 4 or 5 days every year at Harriet Island in St. Paul. Usually someone like Soul Asylum is the big name (they're from here, so it works well). This year Staind (big name, but I couldn't give a shit less), Judas Priest, Elvis Costello and someone else were here each night.
There was a section in the middle for people that paid like $50 or something for seats and like, this special space to see. I didn't pay for it, and apparently not many others did either because it was pretty empty. He even said to the audience that he wanted us to fill in the middle but security wouldn't let anyone through.
Instead, all of his screaming shouting fans were pushed up against the fences on the sides.
I don't think there was enough publicity about him being there, honestly. I didn't even know about it til a few days ago. Basically $10 to see Elvis Costello and have amazing food? Not bad at all.

July 6th, 2009, 01:57 AM
Elvis Costello (http://www.bravo.ca/television/spectacle/index.asp) has an hour show on Bravo with some amazing guests.
Sophie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_Milman) comes from a family of musicians and will be gaining a lot more notoriety. Great voice!
