I thought since we had a movie thread like this that perhaps the video game section needed one as well since there seems to be many gamers here at ZP Spam Hell!

I don't play hardly any video games anymore but sometimes one comes along to catch my eye. The New PUNCH OUT looks amazing and I would love to have a Wii to play it! The Wii reminds me of how exciting gaming was as a child. I am so glad I got to grow up and experience the birth of video games. Its the best thing that happened to my generation.

Yeah, I want the new Punch Out!!!

My problem is that I'm fucking cheap. I have a Wii and a 360, but I do not dig kicking out $60 for games that I'll demolish in a week.

That, and most of the time the TV is tied up by my wife watching reality TV.

On the PC, I've been dinking around with an MMO racing game called Project Torque. Free game, free to play, but they bait you to buy points with cash for other things.

EDIT: This rambling post is not really directed at you EC. Your post just sent my off on a tangent I often spill about gaming...

Most Wii games offer lots of replay value and its not just about finishing the game. But it may be time to find another hobby if you do not like gaming anymore or perhaps be mre selective and informed before your gaming purchases. Just my opinion. A lot of work goes into those games and they actually offer more entertainment value than most other things. Like a movie... for your whole family to see a new movie it may end up costing close to the same price and only lasts for 90 minutes. Entertainment is not cheap unless you do what I do and wait a long while and buy old gaming consoles and cheap games. The old games offer great gameplay and can be bought for $10 used or $20 new. If the new games are too rich for your blood and you don't need the latest eye candy, which I find foolish, then perhaps older games are for you.

I fully back the gaming industry and od not like pirates who rip off the industry by pirating the latest games. When the games old I don't have a moral problem with pirating them but I think people who enjoy new gaming should support the peoples jobs who bring them that pleasure. As a person who living through the gaming crash of the 80's I can testify its not a fun world when you can not buy any new video games at all.

I've been discussing that a lot on another site I visit. I think games are in a rut right now, and I don't know if they are going to pull out of it. Whatever is wrong with the industry right now, it's driven me back to decade-old games. I'm having fun again.

I try to support games that are well done and unique, especially if it seems that no one is buying them (Sacred 2, Okami). The most assholish thing I've done with piracy ever is what I'm doing with my Xbox. I've decided that if they want my sale, they should have made the damn game for the PC. If it's a game that wouldn't work well on a PC (Ex. a NON-shooter. Not like there are many of those on the 360), then I will consider buying. At this point, I've burnt over 20 games, and only ONE am I considering purchasing properly. As cheap as all that makes me sound, it's really because of the lack of quality of the games that are popular now, and not because I don't want to pay for my games.

The gaming industry is doing okay right now but they are playing their cards close to the table. Many can not afford to waste money developing games that are not sure to sell. A big loss could pull some of the smaller studios under for good. Expect to see more sequels than usual and just more of the same. Fewer games with well established characters. Until the economy erects itself fully no one will be gambling much but the BIG guys may pull out a few surprises here and there. I have seen some MIND BLOWING TV ads for some PS3 games lately. I do not remember the names but one game in particular blew my eyes out of my head it looked so awesome! It looked like a CGI movie. I 'member seeing a dood blow up a helicopter in the commercial. BAD ASS!

What about Super Punch Out? Is it out yet? Is it any fun? Is Mike Tyson a hidden character? Did they change Mike's in the game years later after the rights for his name expired? For some reason I am thinking they did but I could have imagined that. I would LOVE to play the new game. I sure hit for the Wii wee's!
