Kazaa Lite(with anything you can add onto it or even Kazaa++)

WinAMP(always #1, even "not as good" 3.0 puts others to shame.)

sig2dat(a must for Kazaa, and the biggest movie getter for me)

CDex(quality ripping of my Zeppelin collection, thanks go out to the CDex creators).

Kazaa Lite advanced version

Hahahaha. I'm kidding

real #5 now

DC++(without it, I wouldn't use Direct Connect)

Well, thems my picks. I may have forgot some important programs that I may have put ahead of the ones listed, but I lack memory at the moment. Oh well, lets here some more picks.

I would have to go with:

5)MusicMatch Jukebox 7.2 NOT 7.5

4)TIE!!!: ZoneAlarm Pro 3.5/Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5

3)X-teq System's X-Setup 6.1

2)Microsoft Windows XP (even though it's from last year)

1)I know I'm gonna get a lot of flak for this but...
Norton SystemWorks 2003.

Very interesting Koffee bean, I don't agree with Norton SystemWorks (lol, more a Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5 and AVG virus scanner user now, actually I think AVG couldnt have been far away from my top 5, maybe 6 even). What is X-teq System's X-Setup 6.1,I might check it out.

2)Microsoft Windows XP (even though it's from last year)

I don't think it matters if it was from last year. Its just the best programs you have used this year. At least that is how I interpreted it.

X-teq System's X-Setup is a WAY more advanced version of TweakUI. Xteq X-Setup allows you to change settings that are normally hidden deeply in some configuration files such as the Registry, quickly and easily. Using this utility, you can hide and show Start Menu items, system icons, and individual drives; tweak the behavior and appearance of Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Internet Information Server, and Netscape; change the Active Desktop Tool Tips; add folder and context menu commands; and more. There are hundreds of tweaks for the Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000 operating systems. I recommend it for power users, gamers, system administrators, and anyone looking to maximize their performance and speed. Get it here:

Xnews is a newsreader for newsgroups. It can handle yEnc encoded binaries as well as normal binaries. It's free and is rather good tho I use Grabit exclusively at this point.

Proxomitron is a all in one internet proxy/ad blocker/pop up blocker/just about everything but the kitchen sink. Awesome program and free.

MyIE2 is a multi-tabbed IE browser program. Free also.

Whoops forgot to add mine heh:

5. Kazaa++ (with or without Diet Kaza)
4. e4 Voice chat
3. Grabit
2. Jetaudio 5 (man this thing is AWESOME)
1. Tie between Nero and Alcohol 120%

Alcohol 120% is a cd burning/emulation/all-in-one suite.

e4 is a new voice chat made by the guys who bought out Firetalk from a couple years ago, I've been beta testing it, and it's just gone live (it is a pay service though) it's like talking on a phone.

Grabit is a newsgroup reader like Xnews is, I just like it alot more than Xnews, personal preference.

JetAudio 5 is a Winamp killer. Nuff said. heh.

BAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE AVG Anti-Virus!!! It is THE most HORRIBLE AV out there!!! Frig, it wouldn't even scan all the files I had on my PC!!!!!! It scanned only 9,000 files when I have over 33,000 on my computer!!! As well as it only scanned 1.8 GB when I have 4 GB used! I'm not taking that kind of chance where it only scans less than half of whats on my hard drive!

Mine are as follows:

5) Win XP (hey it runs my comp and w/ a bit of tweaking is all good)
4) DbPowerAmp (free version)
3) tie between Norton SystemWorks 2002 and AIM (wouldn't use AIM all that much but my friends do so..)
2) Ontrack
1) Kazaa Lite

Hmmm........I didn't give that one much thought hehe but it's pretty damn close. I need more like a top 10 since I have others I like and some narrowly won out others. Gotta throw in Avant browser in there somewhere. I love it, clears all records on exit. You can save web pages to load when u open it next time (very useful to dialup users like myself). Also if it crashes it will load them. Of course, theres multi tabbing. Cannot forget to mention, the built in pop up blocker which works almost flawlessly. Simple mouse gestures (not as much as Opera but enuff to sustain me). I like the other numerous options and the interface is not bad too. Speed and stability are exemplary and it's the best browser I have tried. Personally, it's the best one out there IMHO. To me say Avant is my #1 and the above is #6-2 in descending order. LOL

thats really freakin sad, dBpoweramp is a great free application, a labor of love for its creator for which you can purchase an optional powerpack for something like $12. The powerpack doesnt reallt add much inthe way of functionality to dBpoweramp just a couple of fairly insignificant extras, its really just a way of asking for donations without begging. You have to be a serious skinflint to want a crack for this.
get a life you saddo.

Kevoid, I have been using Hare as well but havent really noticed a difference. I've used it around 18 times. Did it really help your system and is their a pay version? I have a 56k modem so i dunno. I'm also checking out Aston and the X-teq tweak thing......seems to be very cool. Thanks for letting me know about those programs guys.
