I was just wondering how many people and how people were getting on with Microsoft Windows Longhorn.
Are there many new compatibilty problems?
Are the new features good?
Are there many version upgrades of programs Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player etc, are they better?
How stable is it?
How much better is it than Windows XP?
Please do reply to my question, I'm downloading Window Longhorn at the moment, but am still unsure if I should upgrade

I have a strict policy of not using beta operating systems however this looks like this shit. Where are you getting it, kazaa? Umm I might build a comp and load it up it seems worthy. What is a good sight with the specks. Everything I have seen looks like here say (I hope not!) It looks like the perfict OS to go with intels hyper-threding prossers (itilaim, Xeon, and the new 3.06 ghz p4) oo man i soo want that 3 ghz p4 hyperthreding looks like a god send.
BUT it also looks realy scary:
" He also suggests using the computer for screening phone calls and emails , getting in touch with you when you're out of the office, letting you pick up your data from anywhere, with any device, arranging meetings for you"
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/25878.html
but what ever. tell me how it goes

I NEVER install a BETA OS. Who knows what could be wrong with it, compatibily issues, stabilty probolems, heavy specs. No siry, I only install FINAL OS's, just to be oin the safe side. So if I were u I'd download partition Magic after, make a partition of around 5 GB's and install it to that just to check it out, but only to check it out, don't make it ur default OS cuz who knows what kind of nightmares that might lead you to.

TFoS_Fan,
AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This copy was leaked by a Microsoft employee, to his home machine, then to a shell account in Denmark, then to Sweden, it's been making the rounds. ( you never heard this from me)
This employee was caught by internal network security and is "locked down" so he has only very basic email privilidges at this point.
I recomended unplugging the network cable during installation, till you have Sygate Personal Firewall installed. DONT THINK that Microsoft will not be aware that you are putting this on the net.
And you other two !. . .no wonder youre not beta testers.

in case you didn't notice all windows os's are beta!! (os's in general really)

yeah, I agree with that, it will send info back to MS, they got smarter ;)
I'll be installing it for the hell of it, then reformating windows 20min afterwards, I won't use it for any length of time
(btw, if anybody replys to this USING longhorn, they are either very brave, very stupid, or a lot of both)

Ok....guys, I see that there is aboviously mixed feelings. But are there anybody using Longhorn out there that can justify any of the views and answer my questions, rather than talk about hear say and move the topic of conversation away from your personal or political views on Microsoft and Bill Gates and more onto Longhorn itself.
Thanks

I don't think it's finished yet! Who wants to use a half-ready OS? Not me! I'll stick with Xp. Works fine.

well, I tried to install it (the irc beta one), I ended up messing up the setup (it sadi insert the xp cd, so I did, it meant the longhorn cd, but they are so similar the boot names weren't even changed...), and it would be waaaay too much work to try it again, so I can't give any input here anymore
oh well, was sorta fun while it lasted

Well this is it, and I have to tell you, the best thing about it so far, the intro music! I just wanted to crack a Corona and Samba the night away. Alas, I have to be somewhere in a few hours, and have a hella week ahead of me.
I will post the easy, fool-proof way to do this, as soon as I can. I will elaborate a tad more on the differences between the XP Pro and this Longhorn Beta build.
Im off to get a whole 4 hours sleep, before a 12 hour day, cyas.

To me Longhorn looks like a glorified XP but with that DRM bullshit built in......from the sounds of it both on the software and hardware side. Stay away from this.......unless you like getting busted becuase your comps spying on you:sw

I told them that upfront. I could not successfully keep some services from the net. It looksbetter, but its still buggy, not stable enough for my demands.
Its a beta, so no ones gonna bust your balls about it. The only diff is where you got it from microsoft, or some warez site. Big whoop.
What are they gonna say, "give me back my beta !"
Be warned, it will talk your business.
