This hand-cranked cell-phone charger mounted in a hollowed-out log was apparently discovered in Chechen fighters' encampment. Some of the components -- the pull-string, presumably -- are said to come from toy cars.

I'm sure there are a few who stiffened over the idea, thinking that this link had their number until it was discovered that the meaning was actually literal.

Hmm wonder if this was hand powered, or whether they had a large mass that would be suspended a released to use gravitational energy to charge the phone. Fairly well thought out either way.

It looks like a hand crank. The whole assembly is not that big judging from an image of a lighter.
