Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to offer some help. I don't spend too much time on forums except for one that offers free help with pc problems. They're pretty much tight assed about what can be posted there, which is why I found this forum in the first place. They don't allow help with any p2p problems because it's not something they condone. I can't really offer too many people help with their problems so I've become sort of the "village idiot" and most of my posts there are lame attempts to humor people. I keep it clean and have gotten to be pretty friendly with a few people there.

My problem is after visiting this site I got jealous of the huge selection of Smilies. I asked the admin to add some new ones and posted a link to your selection but he hasn't added any of them. Some of the other, smarter, people know how to add these images but don't trust me enough to tell me how. The forum format (pctechbytes) is practically the same, so I was hoping someone here would be willing to help. I'm thinking it cant be too hard, if I'm right would someone offer the tips I need? I'd like to suprise them by acting like I actually figured it out from reading the source page, but I tried that and couldn't get it to work. If anyone is willing to help I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks, RTR.

I think they're pulling your leg, or perhaps you misunderstood.
Adding smilies to the board is an admin level permissions task.

Displaying them using img tags is probably what they are doing.

I have this cool old proggie that lets you collect smileys from wherever and use them wherever img tags are allowed.

Have fun with it. :)

They sound like a bunch or morons with a web account to me. Not the way to run a site for sure making you feel belittled. Id look for a new home and a bunch of professional admins without the "GOD" effect stuck up their arse.

Sorry it took so long to get back, thanks for the replies.

Don't get me wrong, the people there are cool with me. It's just not the kind of place that lets things hang loose like y'all do here. They don't belittle me, I do that. If you can't make fun of yourself kind of thing.

I understand the part about the admin creating the smilies and all, but sometimes people put animated gifs in their posts. I asked them to add a few from your list but I think the admin just didn't want to waste time making things easier for me to clown around. He pretty much likes people to stick to helping others fix their pc's, but I create a little havoc when I can.

Hmmm, I hate to sound stupid.... but when your busted it's best to assume the position. I was able to open the file! And I figured out there was a serial in the text file. What do you do to find a forum type? The format is practically identical to this one. Is UBB Universal Bulliten Board? Maybe... if I read the tips... I can learn myself sumpin'.

I think what you need to know is what tags the board uses to display images, like here its

You just need to find out what they use at your forum and set getsmile to post in that format.
