I get 4 to 6 hr.s
There's always too much to do to get more than that.
Every once in a while I get a solid 8 on a sat/sun.

Try to get 8 hours, and if I go too many days without it my productivity drops so severely I may as well sleep in. From a scientific perspective people should be getting at least around 8 hours of sleep a day, otherwise they are over straining their bodies.

it is a known fact that as we age, our amount of sleep required is less and I usually get by on about 5 to 5.5 hours per day.

That seems to be opposite for my mom. She must sleep like 10 hours every night.

I usually shoot for 8 hours, but end up getting about 6-7.
I remember when I was in my 20's and I could sleep 12 hours straight without getting up to piss. Those were the days!!

physical conditioning tends to reduce the amount of sleep one may need.

I've heard that there's a very small segment of the population that only needs 2-3 hours of sleep per night. I have only met a couple in passing, but it must be strange only requiring so little sleep.
As for me, I usually stick around the 8-9 hour mark. There are days when I wind up only getting 5 hours of sleep, but I always try and make up for it by finding a day close by where I can sleep about 10 hours given that, to my knowledge, it's unhealthy to purposely deprive oneself of sleep (I think I remember hearing once that it can actually lead to a shorter life actually)
So I try and stick with what seems to be the natural amount of sleep since it seems to be the healthy thing to do.
