I do not have Office 2003 loaded on my computer, (I do have Office 2000), but when I try to open a PowerPoint file, a window pops up asking for the product key for Office 2003. I'm not asking for a key, but a way to open my ppt files. This started about 2 weeks ago, and I have not loaded any new files or programs on my computer in over a month. Does anyone know what is happening, and or a fix for this? Before this started, I had no problems with PowerPoint files.
Thanks,
Harley Rider

Your machine probably had a 60 day trial of office 2003. If you just want to view the file you can download power point viewer.

If you have the full version of 2000 installed you may just have to change the default software that opens power point files. Right click the powerpoint file, go to properties and there should be a line that says open with: program CHANGE. Click change and direct it to your powerpoint 2000 software. This would be in your program files folder under Microsoft office.
Another alternative is to download OpenOffice, a free, opensource alternative to Microsoft Office. It should be able to open the file for editing, although you may have to rework the file to make it display properly.

I already tried that, didn't work. This machine is about 8 years old so I don't think 2003 was preloaded.

What's in your programs folder? You could always uninstall office 2000 and any other M$ office shit and download open office for free.

Go to control panel, go to add/remove programs. List any thing that says Office in it.
If all that is listed is 2000, then run a repair on that install. If there are others listed (2003 or others) remove those, reboot, then run a repair on office 2000.
Report back with answers/progress.

Problem solved. Did a regedit search for office 2003. removed all references to 2003 and rebooted. Computer seem to be working ok so far, and I can just cick on a .ppt file and it opens.
Thanks for the replys

I was just looking at the new 09 Street Glides. I'm not near ready for another new bike, but I do love looking.
I have an 07' Deluxe and an 82' FLH.

You have a couple of very nice rides, and the Glides look good this year too.

I'm still curious why there were registry entries for 2003 if it was never installed. Did you check the add/remove programs to ensure it wasn't listed, as a trial or otherwise? Registry entries should only appear after an install, or after importing registry keys (which I don't think happened here).
Anway, glad it is working, but still a little confused over here.

I went to the Harley dealer last week with a friend. They were having a Hog Roast so I got a free lunch while the salesman tried to get me to buy a new V-Rod Muscle. I was very tempted. They have dropped their prices and are offering 0% financing for 60-80 months. If I do it the girlfriend has indicated that she will be very displeased. Decisions ....decisions...:drunken_s

Is it the money or the danger of riding bikes that makes your girlfriend displeased about you on a bike? Sometimes a man just has to put his foot down and say, honey, I love you, but...:icon_thum
Do it!

Anyone seen the tv add where that guy jumps onto that huge casino and then rides his bike off of it too? That amazes me! CRAZY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLejkyXbJlc&feature=related)
