I have done a Google search, but I am about to do so, looking for "PlayStation Underground" which was a subscription based (perhaps a free subscription, I do not 'member ) video magazine with lots of pre release game demo's and some full games that were in house games not ever meant for distribution. I always thought these were cool and each volume had hidden interviews and content. I still have about 10 of these and one even has some 3D glasses but I can't remember what for and I have no way to play these.
Does anyone else remember these mail order disc's and are they worth anything? I will not sell mine as I save all my old video game memorabilia and figure that one day this will be as collected as comic books are today.
I really wish I could play these. Is there anyway to play them on my PC?
EDIT: I may add some scans later if anyone is interested in seeing them.

I Downloaded some PS underground video a long time ago that had MST3K commentary on it. It was pretty funny. That's all I know about PS underground though.

Not sure if I have that volume but I did see it on youtube just now LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-Gi-QVudhA).
They would often add bits like that and interview the game makers. Just like a magazine but done like a TV show too. I thought it was awesome because you could watch the video and then play a level of the game to see what they were talking about. I think it came out every three months.
It would be nice to be able to get this content posted on the net so people could see some of the history of Sony video games and how much effort they put into capturing the market back then. Sony totally trounced Sega with great creative games and marketing. Seems they have all but forgot how they got there to begin with....and its costing them dearly.

They're just PSX game discs, play them in a ps1 emulator.
I highly recommend ePSXe 1.7.0

The emulator above is the most stable PSX emulator I have ever come across.
And I remember Playstation Underground. I thought that was the coolest shit ever. I don't think I have any left from that time. How sad! That was a part of my childhood.

I have a PS EMU but will the discs work if I put them in the PC? One way to fund out I guess.
A better question is how to get my PC to play them.

You just need a regular old cdrom drive to play them. Put them in, load the emulator, and run the game.
There is probably some basic mouse/keyboard support, but you'll be better off with a Logitech RumblePad 2 (corded or cordless).

Thanks, I am about to check it out! Hope it works!

Inside booklet. They would include clues on and in each volume that would unlock secret content.

I have tried to play the STR movie files with PSXplay and it keeps crashing. I will keep trying until I find a way to rip these files off the disc and share them.

THANKS! So far this is the only one that seems to be working. The others kept crashing. Still in the process of converting but if this works I will have some cool shit for the people who would like such things!!! Oh boy!

They should, PSX games were just colored CD's, think they colored them to make up for the crappy laser. The lasers were the biggest pain in the ass when trying to run burnt games, you had to select the right discs otherwise they would not read properly.
Anyway, I still have one of those psx underground discs lying around. One of the few discs for my playstation that was not pirated.

EDIT @ MountRage - It does recognize it but you just need the right software to convert it to a playble format which is what was in those Japanese links posted above. Most of the Playstation content is in STR format.
@ Malakai1911 - Yeah! It worked! I still have to figure out how to get it converted to watchable avi but I don't think its going to be a problem. Thanks so much. How you found that program is beyond me. Took a little bit to find exactly what I needed there but its up and playing now. Can you tell I am excited? lol I havent seen this content in over 10 years so its cool to me.

I remember them. Unless you can prove that i dont recall anything. It was subscription based. XBOX magazine had them to but later moved all the demos online as DLC to get more subscribers and save money. IF you have a XBOX, you can mod it with the chip and flash it so it can run emulators on it. This guy put a lot of work into this disc.
100% FULL playstation emulation
GAMELIST
Final Fantasy 7 hard edition (works 100% with no slowdown, scene release)
Castlevania Syn of the night (works 100%, BETTER DETAIL, then on xbox360)
Final Fantasy Tactics (works 100%)
Heart of Darkness (works 100%)
Intelligent Qube (works 100%)
Parasite Eve 2 (works 100%)
Resident Evil 3 Plus (works 100%)
Saga Frontier (works 100%)
Wild Arms (works 100%, slows down a little when you play jack, will freeze only if you try to buy the same weapon you have equipped with the same character selected, everything else is perfect, just don't play with jack as main char, wink)
1. put the folder called PLAYSTATION in your drive F or drive E
if its too big, delete some of the games in the "psxcds" folder.
2. put the "SAVES" folder, and "SCREENSHOTS" folder in your "drive E" in your xbox hdd. These folder are in the "DRIVE E.rar" file.
3. I recommend only running this from a HDD, everything is configured so don't forget to put the 2 folders that belong in DRIVE E.
4. press the RIGHT JOYSTICK to bring up the menu at anytime during play to save a state or load a state.
*don't change any of the files or configurations without first noting them, if you enable analog or rumble that may affect gameplay so before you do take note, these are working 100% with these settings. peace.
*works 100% on softmods too, extract size 8gigs, again just delete some of the games to make it smaller ;)
I had a PS1 and all the games were CD based. A friend at work has a guy who burns them. All i had to do is use Game Genie to swap out the disc after a game loads up. Saved some dough. Best game was Tomb Raider, the reason i bought the PS1. I got the 3DO system a year or more before hand and it pretty much was solid but third party support on games. It lacked that big time.
XBOX 360 needs to be hacked so it can play emulators. Right now i have to wait for a FIRMWARE update to play new xbox 360 games. Games released now have a third wave of video or needs to be able to boot with stealth patch.

I don't think you remember it and youre fucking up the thread with your muckity muck nonsense! I don't have an xbox and the problem is already solved...thank you.
I too liked Tomb Raider. No other game at the time have such awesome environments.
Why don't you just play EMU's on your PC? I have tons of N64 and playstation games and have had them for years now. I know you must have them too. I love the Dreamcast games now. I just started getting them about 6 months ago. Jet Set Radio FOREVER!
I also have Dreamstation games!

Use to use my Dreamcast for all my emulation needs. Guys are still trying to emulate playstation on the Dreamcast, ever since Bleemcast got peoples hopes up. Anyway, my computer has so much balls now that all my emulation would be done on computer now, but back in the day Dreamcast was the king shit of console homebrew.

I still love Dreamcast myself. I sorta left console gaming after that. Everything seems so repetitive now its pointless unless you like pretty graphics and I will leave that to girly men. I keep it retro all the way. Its all about the high score!!!! I like competition and could care less about completing the latest POS game.
If I had tons of money I would open a retro arcade here in town and hold competitions.

My brother has a Wii and to be honest allot of the games have that old SNES feel to them, almost makes me want to get one. Especially with the new Punchout c (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html)oming out.

What a trip, Mels.
I was a collector of this series also. I have the original 1.1 thru 4.4 discs (maybe it stopped at 4.3). Then there was the merger/takeover with OUPM and I have the PS2 discs #49 thru 109. I skipped many when they were alternating between the PS1 and PS2 discs. Remember the "Spider" and "Jurassic Park" games? I think they were on the first disc. (Oh, and the Twisted Metal Bloopers....lol!!)
There was also the "Pony" and "Ain't Talking 'Bout Dub" videos. I have a text file of many of the issues and their contents. I was so thrilled each time a new one arrived. I was also pissed when, over time, less and less content started showing up, filled with many repeats and lame live show feeds.
Great Stuff!
