Heheh. I've hardly ever used my real name online actually. One of the reasons I hate the Facebook Myspace movement is because it breaks a personal code of not using real identifiying information online.

Yeah, I'm with a lot of people on this one. There's my online life and my real life. Sure, both of them have me using similar opinions, but both should be kept apart for the most part.

Most people who have been a hardcore internet user for more than a few years are probably of a similar opinion. It's usually new people who are just learning that the internet is used for more than just e-mail that wind up going, "Why don't people hire me in the job market? People don't read my MySpace account that stores information like my drinking binges, my marajuana grow-op parties and saying that my favorite past-time is lying on resume's, so what gives???"

There are very few people from ZP and elsewhere that I would want to mix into my facebook/myspace pages. It's just weird.

I do have a few ZPers on my facebook (they have all posted in this thread). I used to have some on my myspace, but then I deleted that profile and never added those people back on the new profile created later (cuz I'm lazy).

Its more to keep my personal life away from Zeropaid. If my friends knew I was on Zeropaid, and searched the forums it would not be hard to figure out who I am. Much of what I post on Zeropaid is political, duchebagged and sometimes controversial. Some of my friends I could care less if they read my posts and associated them to me, but others I'd rather they not know of them, mainly my ultra christian family members. Facebook is too much of a universal forum for most to post every aspect of their lives.

I can admit to being a bit paranoid. Goes with the territory, although I can accept the fact that being a member on Facebook only indicates you as being a fan and little more really (unless, of course, you deliberately name each other there) I just have that paranoid delusion that someday, the copyright industry will manage to get such a stranglehold on the internet that they'll have the power to blacklist people with certain opinions from the job market. Not going to happen in the immediate future, yes. Though looking at the movements in the privacy debate don't necessarily paint the prettiest picture either.

The more degrees of separation I have from my online name, the better. I have enough people who think of me as some kind of psycho wierdo for saying that people are entitled to online privacy.
