Hi everyone

I have 2 questions please help

1) I downloaded a movie in AVI file format and wanted to transfer it to vcd. thus i used TMPGE software to encode it into mpeg file format. but when i did this the faces of the chararcters in the movie and the picture became narrow. i.e. faces became long. Does anybody know why? if so can anybody please tell me how to fix it? I used 1:1 aspect ratio when i encoded avi to mpge.

2) I also have this avi movie file i downloaded and when i play it, i can only hear the voice no picture. I have already installed all divx codecs and nimocodec and windows codecs and does not seem to help. is there any othere software i need download and install to fix this problem?

your help is appreciated it and thank you in advance for your help and suggestion.

thank,

clueless whatsoever

#1, the player that you use, may need to be told what aspect ratio to use. So, if the movie is 16:9 and you are playing it 4:3, scrunchy scrunchy.

Check your player settings, and tell us which one it is, try other players also, like the PowerDivX NextGen.

#2 Nimo is not ALL inclusive. You must investigate what the movie video is encoded with, so, get this:

http://avicodec.duby.info/

Open any movie in this, and it will tell you ALL.

Do this, then report back your findings,

cheers

Hi Krell,

First let me start by thanking you for your attempt to help me.

Ok ok I have a confession to make and a correction to make. Actually for question #1, the downloaded file was not avi file, I just realized it now and it is I believe an mpeg format file. With your suggesion I opened it using AVI codec and found following info

File : 701 Mb (701 Mb), duration 2:04:25, type AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality 30 %

Video : 612 Mb, 688 Kbps, 23.976 fps, res. 416*176 (2.21:1), DIV3 = DivX ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), supported

Audio : 89 Mb, 96 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 chan., 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, supported

So this was the file I encoded using tmpge software, because the file was too big to fit in one cd-r so I wanted to divide it into 2 parts and that is when I found out the faces of the character that I reencoded became narrow and long. Sorry about the misinformation.

For question #2, I found the following info:

File : 704 Mb (693 Mb), duration 1:10:35, type MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality 77 %

Video : 580 Mb, 1150 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 352*240 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), supported

Audio : 113 Mb, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 chan., 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], supported

So whats next, please get back to me.

Thanks,
Clueless

you are just some freak that beets off to animated paper not even real people so don't even think for one second that you are better than me. freak of nature.

yeah i can't type/spel but fuck you i don't care i am in collage and i am 16 i have built 3 computer sold 2 with i have had a computer for my entre life can you say the same?
HAHAHAHAHA. You, my friend, are a moron. Believe me though when I say how impressed I am that you're 16 and go to "collage". Do they give term paper assignments at this "collage" place, kinda like at this place I know called college? Yeah, at college they tend to mark you down if you can't spell simple words and get decent punctuation down. However, I presume this "collage" thing you speak of is some other kind of activity, possibly involving ball gags and your local priest, which would explain how you have succeeded in "getting involved" at such a young age and progressed despite heinous grammar and spelling. (Btw, does a guy named SkorchedHeads attend your "collage"?)

Oh, and you've built THREE computers!? WOAH!!! STOP THE PRESSES. A HUMAN EXISTS WHO HAS BUILT THREE COMPUTERS!!! Your post deserves an A for effort, but as far as content, F. (Btw, I graduated from Stanford, Harvard, and any educational establishment you most respect in 4 months, and I'm 7 years old and used a computer in the womb. Yep, funny how easy it is to B.S. your way around on forums, eh?)

EDIT: Note: As others hopefully have noticed, I rarely flame, but this was well deserved in my opinion given the degree of douchebaggery exhibited by Munchables.

I was gonna say something along the same lines but you all just beat me to it. munchables isobviously just one of those people who need to feel l33t due to an othrwise piss poor existence. so sad, so sad. I agree clueless, pay no attention to him. he COULD help you if he wasnt so inclined to insult anyone with the courage to ask a question and the desire to learn....

edit: he was smart enough to encode his own flicks munchables, so obviously not a monkey.... what is your excuse btw?

Would you like to step in to my office?

You seem to have shown up in my absence, and I have viewed some of your other nonsense. This is a thread for support. When you want to go at it for a flame thread, you just let me know. Until then, you shut your hole and stay the fuck OUT of my business, you got that?!

I went to college when I was 15, and I've never met such a worthless asswipe as you. Straighten up your act, or go, I wont tolerate it. WE wont tolerate it. I said it, you do it, that settles it.

CCSDUDE, Jared592, gorphon, thx for your support.

The next post will address cLuELeSS

Douchebaggery? LMFAO.....

Dude, you have to be one of the craziest Atari loving guys on this board....

EVERY time I see yer nick I expect some form of comedic genius.

Munchables: I've never been to "Collage" an I never expect to go to "Collage" I also don't expect nor want to go to college....

Still....I can actually talk in a manner that's easy to understand. (most of the time ; P )

I have also built PC's for family an friends. However, it wasn't such an astronomical number of PC's as you have built, 7 to be exact.....

Hmmm, I seem to have screwed up in my count...I've always been bad at math.

I'm pretty sure I could out wit you if push came to shove....even while under the influence of a mind altering substance. Seems like you can barely stand much less speak without even being on some illicit substance. So chances are I'd just point and laugh in my drug induced daze while you tried to chase your imaginary tail. Sounds like a good time, eh?

Also, in reply to your comment about having a PC your "entre" life...I doubt it. You're not even old enough to remember the classic BBS days or even Windows 3.1 and DOS or command line Linux/Unix.....or hell even a freakin 386 CPU..... I on the other hand have a few "classic" PC's from my childhood laying around including a Commodore 64 an a Amiga. So I think I've been around 'em longer then you have. Unless their teaching you about the stone age of PC's in "Collage"

Now I'm off to "beet" off to paper and maybe some tofu bologna....or is that INTO some tofu bologna....? Hmmmm, I guess that enigma will never be solved.....

Tata....

Edit: Krell, right on!

I believe I recall what her/his problem could be. I believe you have to set the aspect ratio in Tmpeg to 16.9 for letter box. Or just set it up for 1 to 1 without any change. But since the latter won't work on AVI s/he will have to convert it with Tmpeg giving it the correct aspect tag's. Or else you get the dreaded skinny heads....lol

So s/he has two choices....

1) Try getting the 16.9 tag to work....I've had problems with it.

2) Make Tmpeg add black bars to the top an bottom so it's just a normal TV ratio.

http://www.jhepple.com/AVI2MPEG.htm This may help....

Now once that's all cleared up s/he needs to actually burn the VCD if that's what s/he is planing on doing.

I recommend VCDeasy - http://www.vcdeasy.org/modules.php?name=_Downloads

Download the full version and check out the sites FAQ on the program.

In no time flat you should be in the process of burning a VCD that's ready to play on any VCD capable player. Watch out though, keep your VCD's safe and try not to scratch them. One mean scratch can kill the audio sync as well as screw big chunks of the video up. VCD's don't have any error correction - that's why ya can fit around 800 an some megs on the disk.

PM me if you need anymore help Clueless.

Please tell me that you still have the original file that you downloaded, the one thats TOO big. If so, we are going to simplify this for you.

If you do indeed have the original file, them post the specs for it, like the last one you did, which was an avi btw, even tho it said the divx was mpg4, I know its a tad confusing.

You might also PM me with the original file name, I may have already chopped it in the past!

Now lets please regain order to this thread.

peace

True CCSDUDE,

although, if he has the original file, why not just split it like any other " the file is too big " request ? Youre good with that one too.

I try not to pull people in too many directions in one thread, as you say, the K.I.S.S. rule.

my 2 cents
