Just thought I'd ask about domain name registars. Since some of the info out there is about a year or so old, was wondering if much has changed since 2007. What are generally the better ones out there?

I have a website and at first I used Frewebs for my domain service which was expensive-I switched to GoDaddy and the service and price is much better-I have two domain names through them

I still use Frewebs (now called Webs) For the hosting of my site.

Ah. I was hearing about cheapnames as well as the CNET story about 'free-speech friendly registrars' which had a number of them that was rather attractive. Haven't heard of Webs myself though. :)

I use godaddy almost exclusively, mostly because they are cheap and you can call and someone actually answers the phone.

I recently had a horrible experience with eNom, they suck.

I'd stick with godaddy honestly. From what I've found they have the best combination of price and service. There are a couple places that are slightly cheaper, but godaddy has better service than both them and some of the more expensive places.

Zentek-International.com :icon_thum

Offshore hosting/domain registaring with very low levels of restrictions. You can enter false WHOIS info, and they don't care =) so when someone trys to find the owner of a site, they get fake names/addresses.

I know only one godaddy, it's works if you have few domains. I can say they are http://www.dineoxford.com/pics/img/2459/t08j1110iyaz/cool.gif

I use Godaddy personally.

Have had one domain with them for about 2 years now; no issues.

Pricing was good, and they're reputable.

I have been with GoDaddy from a long time and I can say they are consistent and reliable.

Godaddy turns out to be a little short on ethics.

See the news entry for June 19 here (http://www.uribl.com/index.shtml), the new notice at the top of this page (http://rss.uribl.com/),
and the reason (http://rss.uribl.com/godaddy.txt) for the new restrictions.

So, basically, Godaddy was scanning this list and without investigating and
verifying that spamming was actually occurring, hurried to send this cash grab
email to everybody they could, in hopes of making a quick buck off their customers
whether they chose to stay with them or not.

Though URIBL has disabled Godaddy's access to their listings it is probable that
Godaddy will just switch to another antispam list and keep up the small-scale
extortion scheme because the demands are small enough that few would choose to sue
them or press charges.

Not any more. That domain (UniqueLinks.com with one "i") is no longer active.

namecheap is one of the best
they give you full access to domain
you will have domain control panel
also dns for them and you can change it
between all i tried before namecheap are good for their domain panel
also with namecheap you have free whois guard
as you may know who is guard is one of the most needed for offshore and warez websites

I still prefer godaddy for I've tried and tested them. I also host my website at them although others might say that its better to choose hostgator when it comes to hosting but they're quite expensive. All in all, if you want a domain then godaddy is the best pick.

Many web hosting provider provides it for free until you remain with them so if your are sure enough about the quality of their services for long term then you should take advantage of such offers.
