hi everyone,
so my neighbors just started using their pc to play movies on their xbox through their network. i was over the other day and i told them it probably wasn't the best idea since the movies they were watching were all downloaded from torrents and microsoft doesnt seem like the type of company that really respects privacy. they disagreed, does anyone know how secure media center is for playing downloaded movies, was i just being paranoid or should they actually be concerned about getting busted for illegal movies by microsoft seeing the files they are playing on media center to their 360 or something like that
thanks for any info

There is no case ever of Microsoft using media center to route out piracy. In fact any such case would be commercial suicide. So I have to side with your neighbors and call you a paranoid schizophrenic.

Actually they support piracy.. Play xvid now instead of just WMV.. Also the new unflashable liteon drive is now flashable so you can play burnt xbox 360 games like i do.. 1080p on dual layer disc =) Sweet!

I use it all the time, stream from my portable hard drive attached to the pc in back wirelessly to the xbox in the living room. Never had any problems and play on xbox live all the time. MS should love it because I even bought a second one to stream movies in the bedroom.

@beat@pp I stream off XP you need Windows Media Center and SP2 check out the requirements:

TvVersity is by far the best. I have a fast PC and it can convert the HD films on the fly. I know quality is degraded abit from HD but you can still still the difference compared to Xvids.
