Video Game Documentaries
Ive been getting hold of a lot of Video game docs lately so I thought I would start a thread about them. Here is a list and reviews of the ones Ive seen. Please list any that you know of or post a review of the ones listed.
Chasing Ghosts - Finally released last week after sitting in the wings for over a year! Its worth the wait. I thought King of Kong was fantastic but this one up's it in every aspect, including being based in the real world of FACTS! Billy Mitchel may be a douche of EPIC proportions but seeing him play Pac Man in this film is BITCHIN! He does a move Ive never seen and Ive been around since the stone age. The trick is called "tunnel of terror". In the later levels of Pacman the ghosts no longer turn blue, these are called the "chase" boards. Billy sent the ghosts into the tunnel and just as the ghosts emerge on the other side he would eat a power pellet making them reverse back into the tunnel. He kept the ghosts in the tunnel as long as he wanted to by doing this trick. Such a simple trick but Ive never seen it before. He is a true master (douche bag). Bag this one today, its a great film!
King of Kong - By now you have all seen this one. Its a great documentary even though there is a lot of fiction thrown into the mix. This will always be a classic.
High Scores - I just got this one today and have only browsed through it but it seems very good. Its a pretty rare film. If any of the local peeps are interested in this, give me a holla and we can set up something.

Review: Although technology continues to evolve, a group of die-hard gamers refuses to abandon the classic arcade games of yesteryear. The 80's live on for these enthusiasts, who compete against each other and history to record the world's highest scores. Portland gamer Bill Carlton is one of the most brazen, fearlessly taking on some of the toughest records on the books. HIGH SCORE follows Bill as he attempts to take down the Atari classic Missile Command and its twenty year-old record. To get the 80 million points he'll have to play the game on one quarter for over two days straight. There is no pause button. There will be no sleep. There can only be one victor in this classic story of Man versus Missile Command.

Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession (2004) IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464299/) Review to come. From what I have seen and read this one looks like a high quality production...can't wait!
