Klimt da man and I were talking a while ago about something, and I just wanted to bring it back as a topic, it really bugs the hell outa me

whenever I post and get the "you cannot post more than once every 190sec blah blah blah" message, I hit the back button, and POOF, everything I typed is GONE!!! for some reason it resets the form with the back button, I have come to terms with this by hitting Ctrl-C before i post, but its a pain, and I dont allways remember

we came to the conclusion that possibly not all cookies were being accepted, I tried to have my browser (IE6) accept all cookies, but either this is not the problem, or I am too stupid to figure out how to enable them all

well, nothing I tried worked, but yesterday I installed proxomitron (a popup killer), it seems to have helped my problem, now I can hit the back button, and IT SHOWS UP!!

I was very happy to say the least when I accidentaly had this problem (and it works on other posting sites), now my question is, what caused this change? I dont think this program enabled any more cookies, in fact I made sure java script apps cannot malicously read my cookies

any ideas? anybody had a similar problem, and had it just clear up? I would like to know for future reference, I'm still debating if this program is worth the CPU it uses to block ads, and I would like a permanent solution

(btw, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section of the site)

That is strange indeed. I have always been able to click the back button and everything is there, but I have to click it quick enough or it fucks up (if I wait for it to be redirected, it erases it all). The fact that a pop up killer solved your problem is a mystery to me. I have tried it (just now tested it) with my pop up killer on and off with no difference.

Have you tried looking at the documentation for IE to see if it has anything about miss placed cookies and ad blockers causing variations in how they act? If I were you I wouldn't ask question though and just be glad that something solved your problem (I'm just lazy like that). Now in honor of Klimt I insert an army of bouncing frogs.. :fire :fire :fire :fire

very strange indeed (go figure, the guys that actually read most of the threads are the ones that dont have the problems...lol)

I wish I could just live with it, but like I said, when I reload windows or remove my ad blocker proggy, I still want this feature :(

oh well, I guess some of my favorite sayings are actually true....

Shit happens, and Lifes a bitch and then you die :)

happy hollidays guys (wonder if I should start to shop....)

Phalkon30,

Can't offer a solution but some observations..

First..yeah.I have that same problem as you. Exactly as you describe it..I can't hit the back button or everything is erased.

My observations: If instead of actually clicking on the back button I click on the little black arrow next to it (On the explorer browser) this gives you like a recent list of each page you just visited to choose from..in order..of the last one you visited..the second to last one..etc..

Now..here is where it gets interesting..know what the first two are on the list..http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/ad7 then the Zeropaid forum url of the thread I want to reply to..so..what is happening is..at least with me and possibly with you is if I click on the back button..it isn't going directly back to the Forum reply url..it's going to one of those burstnet url's.now mind you ..Zeropaid is the only place I get those listed in my recent url history..If I log onto any other site..check out a few pages..then click on that arrow and check the recent listings..there's none of the burstnet crap in there.

So it's like this..start out a reply..click back arrow..back arrow..back arrow to get to the Zeropaid forum link..poof.the stuff I was typing is gone..

Like I said..an observation..not a solution..logging onto Zeropaid puts all these burstnet links in my back history list and ever since that started..now..no matter if it's the forum page..or news thread or whatever..I have completely lost the ability to just click the back button anywhere without those burstnet ads coming up..

Hope this info..helps..I just know that for me..getting around all the zeropaid site has turned into a battle with all the ads that I have blocked out from coming up..through the hosts file in my windows folder...

hmm, i might have to try that

the best way to get ads off ZP, is to log in, that should block most of the popup ads

I dont have these burstnet things in my list, but thats because I'm allways logged in, and I use a popup blocker

I will try the small arrow, not the big one tho, thanx for the idea

you might try outpost firewall. that is what I use to block ads and banners. you can disable the firewall and just use it to block ads and it is freeware.

It allows you to configure your websites very easily. example for zeropaid I enable cookies but disable javascript ads etc.

oh I read emmagals post and with outpost you don't get that situation with any ads.

peace

I have Ad Shield. burstnet.com is blocked. As well as many others. Ad Shield gives me the option to block what I wan't to block(ads, pop-ups, flash animations, anything). I noticed, while using the hosts file to do this, it slowed my browsing down.

which is why I love proxomitron, it does everything your program does, it is VERY configurable, it uses a proxy to sort out stuff, and can even filter in/out headers for html

but i guess whatever works

after using dealies trick for a while, I allready hate it, I have to refresh EVERY site I go to, for example, I went back to the main page of hotmail after deleting some messages, and all of them were back, too much of a pain for me, but it could be the answer
