ok guys... this is shit, but for about $50, you can own an ati radeon 7000.
this radeon is the pci version, but comes with 64mb ddr ram.
i can send all the stuff that came in the box, even the anti-static bag.
so why am i selling this? i have a emachines pc which comes with onboard graphics (which i can't turn off), and since the radeon 7000 can't cope with that, i am forced to get rid of it.
unless you can help, this card is for sale.
p.s.: if you have onboard graphics, make sure you can turn them off at the bios setting before you talk about buying this card.
i guess i am stuck with my ati rage 128 pro...

I don't know if its against the rules or not, but I don't think the mods will be happy about you using the ZP fourms to sell/auction off your Video card. My suggestion, get a website and sell it, or post it on eBay.

well as far as advice goes.. i'll just tell ya what i've decided :D
1. don't get gigabyte motherboards because some are incomaptible w/ ati graphics cards
2. don't get ati graphics cards cause they're drivers aren't that great :/
ya ya that's all i got for ya.. my radeon 9700 pro wouldn't work w/ my gigabyte motherboard.. so i had to switch w/ my dad.. hehe.. all is good though.. now i have an geforce ti4600 :)
anyway.. ya go for selling it on ebay.. highest bidder type thing.. or just try getting a refund from the company that sold it to you

i can't return it... i bought it from wal-mart. and since i only found out it wouldn't work when i pulled it out of the box, im sure they won't take it back.
i think i will try to sell it on ebay, but i figured i should try selling it here, bc hey, this is the place for ppl who love computers, p2p, games... give my card a good home.
but i will also try ati's trade in program...
thanks guys, for your advice.
the card is still for sale here tho, if you are just catchin up. and if a mod has a problem with this, lemme know, and i'll take the post down, or edit it all out...

Did you check the mobo for jumpers? I've seen that type of crap in the past.....(jumpers to shut off the mobo audio/video rather then it being in the bios).
Also, did you try to find a flash update for your mobo? It may support it in a later version. Never know....
I'll see what I can find out about it....what system/mother board do you run off of?
Also, how much did you pay for the ATi card? I know you won't get half that on Ebay most of the time....so try to get it working before you write it off as a waste.
Anyway good luck bro.

slyder: i have my emachines comp for about a year, probly aboout 9 months with the ati rage 128 pro, and it hasn't ever really died on me. sometimes windows me just chokes up tho, when i install new hardware, but it usually goes away.
CCSDude:
i looked at the jumpers, but there is nothing there (i have thought) to do anything with graphics. there is one for cmos, password, setup, fdd, and one other, forgot the name... but there was one other, that was not labeled. i emailed emachines, and they did not say anything about jumpers on the mobo.
it's an emachines emonster 1000b... i just can't find anything... i dont wana scrap this board.
and i think instead of selling it on ebay, i would try to use ati's trade-up program... i dunno how much they would give me tho. or trying to get a refund for purchase price. the card only cost $60, and since i had no way of telling it wouldn't work, i think it would only be fair that they just take evrything back, toss it in a new box, wrap it in the plastic stuff, and send it back out.
thanks
p.s.: the bios is a phoenix bios, and i couldn't find any updates on emachines website, sent there by phoenix, bc it says to check for updates at the manufacturers website. maybe i will just do a more general search for it...
pps or pss, or whatever: in the bios, i did find a way to shut off the ac97 (integrated) audio, but nothing about graphics, besides a setting that changes it from PCI to AGP, since i have no AGP slot, i didnt change it...

I've just learned you can disable the onboard video via jumpers on the motherboard. But not for Emonsters....
From what I've read it says it's automatic....
So give this a try.
1) Remove all video cards
2) Boot up
3) Disable Intel graphics blah blah or whatever graphics crap is installed.
4) Install the ATi card pop the CD in then let it finish booting....
5) Hopefully it installed ATi's drivers (god they suck....lol) and you shouldn't have any problems after that.
You just reminded me in a round about way that's how I got my card working when it was spazzing. I'm running off parts I threw together and jammed in a Vaio case that was empty....had Intel 810's before my video card upgrade....works like a charm now.
Anyway good luck. And don't forget to report back on what happens.

Edit: Found your mobo specs
Anaheim-3 Micro ATX (ATX V1.2 form factor) motherboard, TriGem, Korea Intel Socket-370 (370pin PPGA Socket) for Intel FC-PGA Celeron CPUs Integrating on-chip Graphics controller and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH): Intel FW82810, as well as Intel I/O Controller Hub (ICH) and AC 97' CODEC: Intel FW82801 onto the motherboard eliminates the need for more expensive graphic and audio add-in cards.

Dealie: I am gonna try that tonite probably...
CCSDude: Besides the fact I have Windows ME, I disabled the integrated video, and can not reenable it. Everytime I click reenable, the comp just freezes. Nothing changes. Power off, restart... Integrated video is still disabled.
I think if I can't get Wal-Mart to take it back, I will go to ATI.

ok, the last thing i will be saying:
i took the card back to wal-mart... the people there were so new, they didnt know about any policy against just taking an open box back, so the girl checked the box, saw all the stuff was there, and gave a refund, no questions asked.
so now i am the owner of a slightly less powerful nvidia gf2 mx200 w/ 32mb sdram.
thanks for the help guys
:)
