I realize the elitists on ZP will tell me how easy it is to be anonymous for free, but I recently purchased a dedicated VPN host. The opinion on them is pretty divided (and yes I've searched this forum as well but hey might as well make yet another thread!)

A question about VPN:

How is it secure? If I'm logged in to the internets through my VPN, can't the VPN provider just monitor my every move?

Thanks

They are secure, but if you are being investigated by FBI or some other very powerful law enforcement, they can track your trail through the VPN.

sure they can - and they do
a VPN has bandwidth limitations, that alone is reason to have a record of your stats
question is: how long do they keep the logs, where are they kept and what is the purpose of having them

you have to find that out for yourselves - check the help/support pages for your hosting provider
a VPN doesn't offer 100% security, (nothing does) but can give you some ease of mind
