Ok so on halloween im either go on a pub crawl or going to this crazy halloween party. Anyways the next day I work very early , gay i know, so should i get shitfaced and have a good time cause i mean its halloween and then still be drunk at work, by the way i have to drive there, or not drink at all.

I guess it depends on what you do for a job. I've had some horrible days drunk or with a hangover but I find you will always get through the day. Best to get public transport or a cab though.

yeah, but being drunk gives you an excuse to act like an asshole way beyond what would ever be accepted under normal circumstances. How else, for example could you get away with going round to someones house, cursing like a sailor, trying to make out with their mom then barfing in their toaster? It just wouldn't work. Being drunk is fun sometimes, and it's not necessarily expensive - you can pick up pretty cheap fortified wine or super strength lager, if you drink it through a straw and on an empty stomach youd be surprised at the results.

I say don't drink next Halloween. Drinking always sucked for me. Some people are not cool when they get drunk while others are super cool but when anyone has too much its not fun for anyone who is around them.

Just smoke weed. I would if it was made legal. I use to really enjoy that stuff and I still miss it. If I would have smoked before I saw Zack and Miri earlier I might have fell out of my seat laughing. Pot made everything so much fun. Comedies, eating, sex (comedy) and pretty much everything. I think its a shame so many people frown upon it and the people who enjoy it as I found it was basically harmless other than inhaling smoke. I hear there are vaporizers now that make it a little better than burning it in a joint or bong.

I do plan on buying me a bag for Christmas because I am going to be off work 2 weeks and a joint or two will be out of my system really quick and not be enough to register under a pee test. I can't wait!!!! The little things can make life so sweat. Maybe I can find a cam of Zack and Miri by that time so I can really enjoy it.

I understand the need of a recovering substance abuser to maintain sobriety, or someone who has suffered at the hands of a substance abuser to place blame upon the substance.

I know that these are very real issues, affecting substantial amounts of people, but not most people.

Excessive use and/or misuse of anything is by definition wrong.
Moderation is key.

Most people don't need alcohol or other substances to be happy or have fun, but in many social circumstances it certainly aids in the process.

I'm definitely not endorsing living a drunken lifestyle, or trying to excuse the behavior of anyone who lives it, I just don't think it's fair to teetotal everyone else on that basis.

Not everyone or even most people have a problem with it.
Most people live mostly sober lives with occasional activities involving alcohol or other substances.

If its the driving influence in your life, it certainly is a problem that needs to be addressed. If it is adversely affecting your health, your job, your marriage, your life, then doubtlessly, abstaining from it's use completely is called for.

It's not automatically a bad thing to go with friends for a night out over a few drinks.
It doesn't indicate a weakness in your personality if you enjoy sharing a joint around the fire with a few friends.
