Yeah, I really have no idea where to start. I submitted it a to a blog directory, and it got approved, but other than that, I have no clue what to do to get my blog out there. It's a music news and review blog. I'm not spamming my blog or anything, I just wanna know some good ways to get exposure. WordPress eBay (http://www.wptagads.com) Thanks guys! :)

I'm not too familiar with these types of things, but I've heard that if you get other (more popular) websites to link to you, and you link to other sites, that will increase your search rating.
Not sure thats the kind of thing your looking for, but there you go anyway.

How should I go about doing that? Also, I tried submitting my Blog to Google, but I can't figure out how to verify it. It's a wordpress blog. I have found a tutorial on how to verify a wp blog with google, but it doesn't work.

The best thing to do is to spam forums with posts mentioning your blog. Ensure that you have a link to your blog in your signature. Reply to every post so that all the forums thousands of users notice your blog and clickthrough to it, love it and make you a gazillionaire.
Simple really. You should try it.

Seriously, though, one of the better ways of getting noticed is maintaining your blog and filling it with content. I have a blog, but I have no intention of being famouse through it, so I only post random stuff.
Find something interesting and post it so you can get on a site like Digg, Slashdot, Reddit, Fark, etc. After a few posts, you'll get a little traffic.
You should know that developing a popular site takes months... if not, years. There are rare exceptions where there is hidious amounts of traffic going to a new site, but more often then not, it's only because the new website is really a website that moved from an older, previously developed site to a new one. contribute to it regularly and you should eventually get some attention.

Thanks to everyone who helped. I really appreciated it. In response to Mrs. Robinson; yes, I did put the link to my blog in my signature. Is that spamming? No, it isn't. It wasn't obtrusive in any way. Plus, I know most of the people here, and they know I am not a spammer. Notice that many users on forums, including this one, have links to their personal site/blog, and no one seems to mind. Once again, many thanks to everyone who helped me. :) So, I guess I will start networking. First stop, Beat King! Still one question remains, how to get my word press blog verfied by google. I still welcome any help on that end.

Exclusive celebrity porn videos always seem to take blogs from 1000 looks a day to about 10 million.

From what I've heard, the best way to get noticed is to find popular blogs and post replies to their entries that are meaningful. Find a way to link your blog to it without being a spammer and you should do ok.

Go to your local bookstore or library and check out Search Engine Optimzaton for Dummies. Someone once said that the Dummies books are 'uneven'. Very true. Some of their books are junk. Not this one. Go read the reviews for the book. I'll soon be launching my own website with the goal of garnering traffic. Yes, you probrably can find all of the info on the net, but it'll take you hours/days/weeks to get all the necessary info that's readily available inside this book.
Another hot book for the SEO apprentice that I must keep on my shelf: YouTube: An Insiders Guide to Climbing the Charts.
And yes, you can post videos on YouTube that'll drive traffic to your blog, people do it all the time.

And lets not forget the old saying that pertains to SEO for bloggers and sums it all up nicely:
Content is king and links are queen!!!

See if you wanna drive traffic towards your blog so you need to update your blog. Submitting to blog directories is good for creating back links and increase PR but for traffic you need to update blog content and do social bookmarking of it.

Use one of those spambots to post your links to thousands of forums and blogs. They automatically post thousands of links and get your site bumped up on Google searches...or you could give away an Xbox360.
