Hello there, I have downloaded a movie from DC++ ( it rocks!!), the movie format was avi. then I used Nero to burn it on a cd with vcd format ( MPEG ) , but once it finished encoding, my cd-r disk did not have enough % mb to hold the movie. Now I am stucked with this movie on my hard drive.
How the heck can I split this file in two parts so I can burn it into two cd's? Do I have to download again in a different type of format? Any good advice please. :fire :fire :fire

Grab a program called virtualDub. http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

Set it to direct stream the audio and video.
Choose the beginning of the movie as the start under edit.
Choose the approx middle as the end.
Save selected section as avi.

Then just repeat for the second half.

Ive got most all of those foreverboard, plus a few others.... The 9th Gate is close to 900megs if I recall correctly.

and if you search around you can find 99minute cd-r's. The only places Ive found are all in California....however, you had better make sure that your burner is able to burn these discs before purchasing, otherwise its possible that you can harm the burner itself.

I never muched like splitting movied in half either, although I am known to do it when I have no other choice. What I normally do is just store them on my external hd until I can get the huge blank media...

Ya, I have some 800 meg cdr's, but I have a 80gig drive I use for video and programs so I dont even burn them off, I share them back out.

Yes, I am going to get me this tool VirtualDub and work with it, I only have a small hard drive space 30gb which 6gb is my music, videos, movies, etc, as you keep on downloading stuff, I am going to buy me an extra hard drive any recommendations? I am no expert on this stuff but I am making my way on learning as much as possible.
Thanks for the info guys and Krell I will also try to follow your advice, take it easy.
