I'm beginning to wonder how many of the regulars around here still think there's much left to discuss about file sharing.

I've been a tad pre-occupied with the bailout thing myself whenever I go around digging for news. I do try and come up with a tech news story from time to time, but p2p related stuff has been almost exclusively a news page thing for me.

I've noticed that the news stories on the homepage haven't been going to the forums lately, but if they were, I'd be willing to bet that there would be a significant improvement to that section.

It's kind of difficult to talk about p2p without it being a problem you're having or it being news related I find - unless it's a development related topic which usually falls into the news category anyway.

There isn't much developement in P2P software, so the search for new alternatives has all but ended. From time to time I'll comment on a news story about p2p court cases or new implementations of misguided copyright laws, but for the most part p2p has become a political issue.

Most of the regulars know what they want to know about it.
Since bittorrent, there really hasn't been much in the way of new dev, the only new stuff seems to be legal wrangling.

That's why I get excited when the main eMule client gets an update. It's when there's a major development frenzy among the mods. Pretty much a glimpse of what the good 'ol days were like across the p2p board. :)

Filesharing for me pretty much ended years ago. I'll do a private one off from time to time though.

i come here to read fart threads, and to argue with spam bots (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=50682#8), so yeah, i hardly ever visit the file sharing section unless a new post shows up on forum spy.

are you saying it's irrelevant now? the open signup thread used to be the only active one in there, and now even thats slowed down.

Apart from a few p2p apps, Bittorrent is so effective, what is there to discuss?

Sure, even newgroups are idiot proof.

I still use soulseek once in a while though.

So much has changed since the Kazaa heydays, but I'm still a "supreme being".
