With the reality of music having become a disposable commodity I was curious to know how much music people have in their collection and what ratio of that collection is music you actually listen to. Personally I have 9 and a half days worth of music, but only listen to about half the collection, if that.

...about 6 1/2 days in MP3 and other formats and another 7 days worth of CD's/DVDA... (assuming 4 minutes per song)

A good chunk of my hard drive is pretty much Trance and Drum N' Bass made by non-RIAA producers. I've lost track, but I've publicly played about 72 hours worth plus the occasional times I've spun for live audiences. I haven't deleted much, so my collection is significantly larger then that. My guess is that I have a good month or so worth of music though, but I can't keep track.

Apparently I should of scaled the poll differently, you guys a file sharing fanatics. How the hell can the copyright enforcers believe that people would buy everything they download when you have people here with music that would cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Heheh. Well, another way of looking at it is simply going to Soundclick (http://www.soundclick.com) and downloading all the downloadable music there (some is streaming only unfortunately) The major record labels would be shitting bricks if everyone did that and dumped their music.
Some of my favorite music actually comes from sites like that actually.

Ok, so like load everything you got into one big playlist and you get figured out right down to the second?
Da bomb. What player is that in the pic?

Not sure what program that is, if I had to guess I would say Kplayer or Mplayer. Regardless of what player he is using Foobar has the same option, in fact it breaks it down the weeks and milliseconds. Its telling me I have
Duration : 1wk 1d 12:28:16.382 in my current playlist, but thats not all my music.
To see the amount, select your playlist or playlists and right click go to content-> properties | properties Tab, scroll down and its under duration.

Not all of my music files were obtained via P2P. My local library has an extensive CD collection that I burn from. For example, I obtained the boxed sets of KISS, Led Zeppelin, The Misfits, Alice Cooper, as well as other classic rock albums from the likes of Bob Dylan, The Doors, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I now find myself burning stuff just for the sport of it. For example, I've burned a ton of CD's from "newer" artists such as Coldplay, Green Day, Rascal Flatts, and Keith Urban.
Do I feel guilty? NO! Do they feel guilty for charging $100 per concert ticket?

Ha! Totally forgot about Winamp's existence. Moved on to slimmer, better software for my music.

How much can Foobar handle? I thought it was supposed to be one of the best for large amounts of music. I've also heard good thinks about Amarok for large collections.

I'm willing to bet a calculator would help if you wanted to find out how much time your music collection would take to play through once.
I'd say, for every section you calculate, add a 1 second margin of error (to account for milliseconds) to make sure you have a reasonably accurate figure. Then again, I'm no expert on this sort of thing, it's just what made sense to me.

Foobar puttered out at 180gb. Media Monkey Gold did the best out of all of them. 300gb before biting the dust, Oddly enough, Itunes performed better than foobar.

that's a guess
music has lost all value, especially when you have a pile of 5000 albums you will probably never listen to

Well...since reformatting my PC I have only a very, very small fraction of what I once had. I will get it all back eventually. However, at this moment in time the songs I do have are ones that I listen to on a daily basis (thats how I remembered to get them back first).
At this time I have exactly
