xbox-scene.com forums have all the information you need on modding xbox and x360 units. Learned to softmod my xbox1 there. Don't have a 360, went ps3, sorry :|

Check on xbox scene to make sure it cant be flashed. THe new ones have a rom based flash so it can only be flashed once. The key was this new release that will rip the dvd rom key from the drive, and then you buy the drive off EBAY or others that arent flashed yet. And once you install the drive to your pc, the program will flash it with the CD key you extracted and it be ixtreme compatable to play ixtreme back up games. Thats the way you handle that. I bought one Before MARCH 2008 and it had the benq drive. EASY to flash but didnt have the right chipset and sata cable so had a guy on craigslist flash it for 50. I have close to 80 xbox 360 games, not anyone of them was paid for. =)

All the newer models are updated by Microsoft.
Well, its still possible to mod them, but not flash driving.
You can ask for a modchip, which is about $200 here in Australia.
But then again, you won't be able to go on Live as they will easily detect.
All models manufactured after March 08 are all anti-flash drive.
I bought mine in May, on Ebay. I flashed it and I'm playing Live with copied games without a problem.
So if I were you, I'd buy a old version off Ebay or something. Not only is it cheaper, and that you will get games/controllers etc., you will also get Live access (probably).

All 360 can be modded! You just need to knwo what dirve it carries and get a modchip or firmware to match.
