Ok I have an interesting problem.

I hate routers, they slow down everything, at least that's what I've expearienced.

Ok because of that I need a solution. I have a 360 and a PS3 and I want to connect them WIRELESSLY to a network so I can join Xbox live.

Now I know that if this were the Nintendo Wii I'd have no problem being you install software on your computer, plug in the wii wireless USB adaptor to my computer with internet, and you have instant online ability on my wii.

Now I am wondering, if I go buy the wireless network adaptor for the 360 which connects to the back of my 360, will it pick the signal up from my laptop which is connected to the net wirelessly from another source being that I don't want to use a router?

Or is there a simular thing I can to to connect to Xbox LIVE as eaisly as the Wii? Or is a router my only option?

Thxs!

I would highly suggest using a router. I have my 360 connected to a router through an Ethernet cable and it works fine. Here is the path from the Internet to my 360. Cable Modem > Home Server Linux computer > huge 20 port switch > wrt54g wirless router modded with dd-wrt firmware >(wireless connection to...) another wrt54g router modded with dd-wrt firmware > 360 (and my desktop). I suffer 0 lag. My ISP is Comcast.

Now for your solution. I say get a wireless router and hook up your PC to it via Ethernet cable. Now you can either make sure that both of the wireless routers can be modded with dd-wrt (http://tinyurl.com/68o2hu), have your 360 (and/or ps3) plugged into the router that is receiving signals (like my setup), or you can just stick with one wireless router, buy the 360 wireless adapter (which is highly overpriced) and be on your merry way. Good luck with it.

Actually you plug your XBOX 360 Ethernet cable to your LAPTOP and place the laptop close to the xbox 360.

Well, there are a few solutions.
My PC is like a long way away from my living room, where my 360 is.
So I take off the modem and connect it over there.
But I have to replace the phone, so while I'm online, I cant use the phone.
If you want to spend the effort, that could be a choice.

My friend has a wireless usb thingy that he plugs into his Xbox360. Its not another connection, it works like a router, apparantly. So that may be a choice, but I don't know much on this.

The 360 can only be used with a router.
