It was madness when scary movie came out, now its just sad. But if you can create very low budget movies and still sell tickets why not.
So all the economics that apply to the proliferation of reality tv, apply to cheap laugh comedies. Just wait, they will have a reality spoof movie.

I saw the first 10 minutes of scary movie at a friends house. My guess is that you have to be cooked to enjoy the movie, if not then I just don't get it. By far the worst movie I've ever seen will still have to be The Aristocrats.

It was fucking dumb. but not as fucking dumb as scary movie. I mean with the aristocrats you get to hear one stupid fucking joke told about hundred times, with the mime being the only creative version essentially. so yeah :-/

Heheh...he used the words "smarter" and "paris hilton" in the same sentence. Heheh
There were a couple funny parts in the Scary Movie films that really made me laugh, though. I wouldn't (and didn't) pay to see them, but they were ok. I think if you could take the funny scenes from each of the four, you could almost have one whole good one.

I actually loved the first two Scary movies but Im biased as I love Anna Ferris (Waiting, Smile anyone?). Ive totallly tuned out since the super stink bomb Epic Movie. They couldnt even get the B actors back for these Epic turds.
I love slapstick comedy but all these movies fall flat. They are just awful.

Epic movie sucked. Bad.
I dig spoof movies, though. It's like an Easter egg hunt, trying to figure out all the references.
Date Movie sucked. Bad.
There are a few things to consider when viewing spoof movies. The quality of the source, and the quality of the spoof.
Not Another Teen Movie? If you do your homework, it's pretty damn funny.
I watch enough horror movies that the Scary Movie series was enjoyable enough.

Kentucky Fried Movie and the Airplane series are great. I love the Files of Police Squad and the movies that followed too.
These new movies are written by hacks.

very dated. I remember first watching it on HBO in the mid 70's when it was definitely cutting edge.
Who could forget the real dick puppet talking about VD or Brown 25, another fine product from UrAnus?

Do not forget "Amazon Women on the Moon"'s, non sequel but could have been, "Stay Tuned" which starred, John Ritter, Pam Dawber and Geoffrey Jones and a an even newer movie "Pleasantville".
Pleasantville was slightly less satirical but still in same vein as Amazon and Stay Tuned.
I also noticed no one mentioned James Lew's "18 Fingers of Death" from 2006 which was a big time parody of kung fu, Bruce Lee, and Rush Hour films. Sadly, it may have also been Pat Morita's (Mr Miyagi-Karate Kid)film before his death.

You guys do know there is a difference between Satirical movies and spoof movies right?
