I normally go in photosuit and use screen capture option. Then pick screen that you want save and save as a regular image file.

press the print screen button on the top right of your keyboard, it's on the left of your scroll lock button.

Then go to MS Paint or for me I use Adobe Photoshop, so I go there and open new>edit>paste

PooF! a new screenshot of your desktop

MGI Photosuite 8.
At least that the one I use to save screenshots.

PM me a dummy email account and I'll send you a piece of freeware under 1 mb. It does a good job. Everything comes out with the .bmp extention but that's easy to fix.

Print screen and then paste into paint works the best for me, i can save it to jpeg all in one step, and its one of the few programs made by MS that isnt bloatware.....its simple

I used to do the same as phalkon. It was quick and easy, but my MS Paint mysteriously vanished from my comp. Ya I know it sounds stupid as hell, but that's the truth. I really don't have a reasonable explanation for this and not sure what I did to trigger that. This happened about 1 week ago running Win XP Home. Not sure what to do next...........

you should be able to reinstall it, go to control panel > add remove programs, then go to the add remove windows components section, if paint is still "installed", uncheck it, restart, recheck it, it will pull it off the install cd, and all should be well, in theory....

you also might want to try doing a search of the hard drive for the exe, maybe the link got deleted

dont bother with these big bloated apps just to do something as simple as a screen capture. Use Irfanview or Ifranview (its spelt one way or the other) its a small (under 1mb) and is free and does an excellent job. Search for it on any decent download site like zdnet, webattack etc...

if you want an image of only the active window, press Alt+PrintScrn.
