Hi,
I use a cracked version of IDM 5.12. It gets a lot of good reviews, and really gives fast speeds, but I'm having a problem that's making it almost unusable. Unlike download managers like GetRight or FDM, there doesn't seem to be any easily accessible option to stop it from taking over downloads.
It starts downloading at all sorts of inappropriate situations, when the file is supposed to do something else (like play in the browser), and there is no way to stop it. Even exiting the application doesn't work! Am I missing something or is the application really missing such a vital functionality? Thanks.

I'm sorry, I don't know if many people around here use download managers anymore, let alone this "IDM" I've never even heard of. Have you tried their tech support? typically, you can find forums with people already asking your question, and even the answer to it, without even signing up.

Umm, why don't people use download managers anymore? And IDM is one of the hottest download managers currently, it's really fast.

i use IDM. you can either stop it from atomaticly downloading automaticly by either clicking cancel then refresh and when it pops up again it will pop up saying do no download auto maticly with this website click ok. or you can go to downloads>options click the tab file types. in the middle it will say do not start downloading for the folwing websites and there you can listthe websites you do not want to download from or underthere list the file types you do not want to download

I dont know about the general population, but i just dont hear of many of the members here talking about using one. DLMs were good back in the day when downloads would take hours, and a single disconnect could cost you hours. now in the age of high-speed, there arent many things you can download that will piss you off if you lose it at 99%.
Im not saying they are useless, far from it, im just saying that you might not get the help you were looking for here, but marmondude decided to pop up. so awesome for you.

Maybe end the browser integration and decide when you want it to take over, depending on the situation. It only requires 1 finger on a key. IDM is able to download from Rapidshare, get all the links on a page, and not need flashgot in Firefox which is an advantage for some people having flashgot problems. Also it's as good as any extension for downloading from the likes of Youtube. So overall, a download manager can still be useful.
