Some might know that I produce my own music. If you do, you might note that I haven't released anything in a few months. Well, most recently, I was able to produce something and it will be out in the next few days.

Unlike a number of artists out there, I fully believe in the power of P2P and have been intentionally posting music on file-sharing. While I haven't been able to put together an official sellable album mainly due to a shortage in album art, I am still producing music anyway. If I get an album together, I'll be posting it on a public BitTorrent tracker for all to download.

In the mean time, everyone can enjoy all my music from my official website here (http://web.unbc.ca/~johnso9/music/).

Also, you can definitely download the music via eMule on the Content Database page here (http://contentdb.emule-project.net/view.php?pid=1620)

Currently, there are over 150,000 downloads of my music both original and remixed. Enjoy the free music everyone. :)

(note: eMule page has more music from other artists which are included in the packs from artists who also like seeing their music posted on file-sharing for free)

To be released: Mars Migration

Genre's released in: Trance, Breakbeat, Drum N' Bass, Ambient/atmospheric

The newest production Trekkin' has been released for everyone. It's been posted on the music page since yesterday and I finally have it posted on eMule as well. Of course, all the necessary links are on the first post in this thread. :)

Did someone say free? Seriously though, I have checked out some of you tracks in the past and liked them quite a bit. I respect you so much for sharing for free, as art, at least in my opinion, is meant to be. I will check out your new stuff!

EDIT: I really liked "Mars Migration". What program do you use to make all of your music?

@ Welsh - The music I produce is Trance (progressive) and Drum N' Bass (Liquid I'm told). In the past, I've also produced ambient as well.

@Hath - For Mars Migration (and all of the tracks actually) I'm using Fruity Loops Studios.

The difference between my earlier productions and recent productions is that I'm using more powerful plug-ins. Mars Migration in particular uses the Synapse Hydra plug-in for the lead and Rapture and Scorpion for some of the atmospherics. I'm also using a bigger sample library now which includes a 116 Drum Machine and the CM-120 Trance Sample pack.

The arrangement altogether borrows from an idea I learned when mixing 'Futuristic Freeway' where there's a secondary lead involved in the song. However, it maintains what a large number of trance songs contain which is a general breakdown. So, essentially, I was playing with mixing together two musical concepts, one well-used today and one not really used much in Trance that I'm aware of.

I've also obtained a few other sample packs like Digital Redux D&B 4 The Headz and a few Soundscan sample packs, though I don't believe they've been used in any released productions yet.

Also, thanks for the kind words. :D Since I should have some free time thanks to the completion of a project I had to do, I'm hoping to get back to doing a monthly release at least. So far, I've got two months in a row and I'm hoping to at least maintain that till the end of the year. :)

I'm usually only a fan of techno when it comes to electronic music, but I do like your style. Thanks. :]
