(Canada) Legal to transferr 2TB of tv shows to my buddies?

I live in canada and i have a pretty big TV show collection, I know it is legal to download these shows via P2P, but i am not sure if it is legal to share this collection with my buddies by copying my collection to their hard drives. If it is then is their a limit to how many people i can share it to?

Also my cousin in America wants me to ship him a hard drive (bought in Canada) packed with TV shows, would this be legal?

If the hard drive being shipped were analyzed then you would probably get thrown in jail for copyright violations. However if you encrypt it I can't see how they could do anything to you, so I'd say thats your best bet. As for sharing between friends, unless you don't trust your friends your never gonna get caught. But theoretically its not illegal in Canada either, just you could get sued for it.

My suggestion would be to learn how to create an ftp server then create a closed connection with your friends. Let them download the material from you then remove it from the ftp.

I think downloading is a pretty gray area and most will say its not illegal to download but sharing is a BIG no no. Any time you offer illegal content, even if no one downloads from you, its illegal.

I don't think there is any risk in shipping a harddrive. People send thousands bought and sold on ebay. Your in Canada your not going to get sued. If someone was going to be sued for TV shows in canada they would have been by now.

So . .when the woman in customs is rummaging through my shit when I came back to the US, she picks up 3 hard drives from inside my luggage.

this is what i would do because im lazy. shipping a HDD requires you to leave your house and pay someone to take it to its destination. with a FTP or (my favorite program evar) Hamachi, you can share your collection with your internet connection. they can even pick and choose what they want instead of a heap of shows to sift through. of course, if your upload speed is shit, then shipping my be a good idea.

which makes me ask another question: are they on a college campus? why are they unable to use torrents themselves? ive set up a FTP before i found hamachi, and only a few friends used it. they just got what they wanted themselves.

Hello fellow Canadian. Nothing is going to happen so go ahead and share. They dont have the resources to check most shipping containers coming into the united states they are not going to scan hard drives. lol If your trying to become the next aXXo it might be another story.
