hi,
Ive used azureus before but then couldn't restart my computer one day because of corrupt startup files and been thinking that it was caused by the sharing of files ive downloaded with azureus and that my upload settings weren't strict enough. what firewall and settings etc are recommended before i try again. i know i had zone alarm on a previous computer but not sure if that allowed me safe downloading. please help.

thanks

I'm guessing you got a virus, perhaps from one of your torrent files or maybe some nasty spyware. Do a virus scan and at least 2 spyware scans and see if that helps.

My puter has been fixed but I cant be sure what caused it - a virus from one of my torrent files or not. Ive had spware cleaners and antivirus installed before. I'm just not sure if there is somethng I can do to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. How do I detect a virus or spyware in the torrent files before I download them?

Scan the Downloaded folder in yor Azureus folder before You open it. I use Webroot, Avg, and Norton with very few problems. If they arise then you always can use various Anti Spyware programs and RemoveIT Pro v4 se for the really nasty hidden Trojans and Malware.

Also You Might run Peerguardian 2 and use the ad's, spyware, Govt and p2p blocks along with the built in safepeer in Azureus

Thank you for this. I have AVG. Should that be enough or should I at least get Webroot too? I also have Spybot and Ad-aware for the spyware??? Good enough?

"Also You Might run Peerguardian 2 and use the ad's, spyware, Govt and p2p blocks along with the built in safepeer in Azureus"

Is Safepeer a built-in feature now?

I guess Peerguardian is something I have to download right?

Thanx for the help so far
