View Full Version : Easy way to share photos/files with friends?

Hello,
I have (what should be) a very simple question:
I would like an easy way for everyone on my holiday to send in and share their photos with each other. Ideally a web-interface (no ftp complication) that is so easy that a granny could drag and drop their photos online. (need gigs of space for all the high megapixel cameras...)
Surely something like this must exist and be easy to use? (i just can't find it ;)
It can't involve zip, ftp, or anything complex...
Alternatively, I have my own domain -- is there some kind of web-app I can install onto my webspace to make this possible?
Are there any ISP's that sell domain hosting with some kind of file-sharing thing built in?
Thanks! :)

There is always ImageShake. I suppose if you just wanted a repository for pics you could share an account name and pwd.
Yes, there are hosting services you can buy that have scratch n sniff interfaces, but I dont know what gthey are or what they cost.

If this is a real person I suggest webshots and if it is not a real person ban the spambot

oi! I'm no spambot!!!! :)
I also left out a key part of the question -- with each person's photos being a gig or so, I'd like an easy way to download each person's photo-collection with one click instead of having to click and download each photo.
I can't believe something like this doesn't exist. Must be some kind of file vault thing out there or something -- i'll take another look round the net. Catch is most require ftp and that sort of thing - needs to be easy peasy...

I like google's picasa for sharing my pics. Make an album and share the link. Your friends can download the full image if they want and you can make the album private so only those who are given an invite can view them.
If you have Picasa installed you can download the whole album in one click.

my vote still stands behind Hamachi (https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en) for all my file-sharing needs. It makes your PCs think they are all on a LAN together. Everyone can set up shared folders and throw files at each other all day long.

I had forgot about Picasa but this is also a good alternative.
Actually any photoshare site and the use of firefox with batchdownloader or flashgot extention will work

You could use

On your domain. Would probably do what you want with minimal hastle.
php+mysql is required I think.
