Depends on what you are looking for. For your music needs, i'd say WinMX. For Movies, i'd say either the Fasttrack network(running Kazaa Lite and with fasttrackmovies.com supplying the sig2dat links), or Direct Connect. I usually use any of the ones I mentioned for Software and other stuff.

I tend to agree w/ this. The Fast Track Network is great but has been going down in flames as of late. I mean it used to be at its prime I'd say about a year IMO. What brings it down are the numerous viruses, the leechers, and just the sense of a "non community." But for a 56K user like me Kazaa works great. Very reliable, vast amout of users thus searching results in many numerous files, as well as rare enuff ones (at least for me most of the time). It is fast and gets the job done. I also use WinMx and Blubster.

I have a cable connection and McAffee virus scan and don't have problems with FastTrack. The only complaint that I have is that the system has a lot of inbreeding. Each software category lacks variety. However, I have tried eMule & eDonkey and even with the bot and using the web tools, my connection was very unstable and rarely reached speeds above 10 kbs. Further, I was almost always in "que" or "searching" mode, while others downloaded like crazy from me. After several days, I still had not received a single complete file.

I don't get into kiddie porn, but with today's increased government monitoring, child porn collectors probably see an advantage in using programs like gnutella clients that may hide their identity. Personally, I think that the argument they make is flawed because IP addresses are visible and can be traced. However, I really don't know enough to comment on the level of personal protection provided by the various clients.
