Hey everybody, I have a philips dvd-rw200 burner. I am having problems copying dvd's. The problem, as I am sure you all know, is the size of the dvd-r and dvd-rw's. Does anyone have any info on how to rip only the movie from the dvd's so that I can copy just the movie instead of the extra footage and additional features, Nobody needs all of that stuff. thank you!

DVDs uses *.vob file format, rip them to your HD first then check which *.vob you want to your blank DVD disk. That should work!

If I am using nero burning rom can it still be done, or should I try using another program, possibly even the windows media player? Sometimes nero seems very restricting. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and also for the help.

DVDs uses Macromedia copy protection, so you need a program like Smartripper or vStrip to unlock those frames & copy those vob files to your hard disk first.

Then, play those vob files with media player like WinDVD or Zoom Player. Find the vob files you want to copy to your blank DVD disk, but make sure you rename those vob files like 1.vob, 2.vob, 3.vob in sequential order first!

You can find those utility programs at:

http://doom9.org/

http://dvd.box.sk/

http://vcdhelp.com/tools.htm#encoders

plus many other sites, etc.

If you can't understand what I wrote, may be others will be able to help.

no offence, but why have you opted to be an early adopter of dvd-recorders while the standard hasn't been established yet and you obviously don't know the basics of dvd ripping/copying yet?

Take a look here: www.doom9.net and www.divx-digest.com / www.dvd-digest.com

Another good prog for this is http://users.teledisnet.be/web/bco02209/neodivx.zip

It bundles SmartRipper, NanDub and some other good stuff. Pretty turn-key.
