What would be the best way to cool it down without a fan? Its a 2.67 Intel duo core with 1 gig and a 128mb video card.

I was listening to Winamp today and searching the interweb and it shut off. :icon_scra Then when I tried to restart it it started making a siren noise. :(

Any ideas? http://www.plentyoftorrents.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/cheer.gif

Get a new fan.

There isn't a more economically viable way to cool it.

Walk it out to the street with a sign that says " FREE PC - to anyone smart enough to put a fan it it. "

Then run back in the house before the neighborhood children steal your milk money.

How many sizes do they come in for tower pc's? I had a big one from an old pc but it doesn't fit. Mine needs a smaller one.:icon_scra

They come in a variety of sizes, and power plugs.
Best bet, take out the dead one and take it with you to your local computer shop.
They'll match it up with what you need.

Well than measure the distance between mounting holes on your case, and take your tape with you to measure a replacement fan.
Find where it plugs in on your motherboard (usually labelled "fan" on the board) or see if your power supply has leads for a fan and take note of how many pins it needs to plug into.

Also, even if it doesn't have a case fan, at least the power supply should have a working fan (unless its a silent one, but I doubt you have that).
If the fan in the ps isn't working, you need a new power supply. Unless you are capable with a soldering iron, and then you can just replace the fan in it.

Yeah I have a cpu fan and a psu fan. But still, all I'm doing is using 3 firefox pages, msn messenger and listening to music with winamp. I'll try measureing the part where the fan plugs into.

Thanks.

I mist down my PC with ice water every so often to keep it cool and running fine. Its amazing how well it runs right after I mist it with cold water. I spray it right on the memory sticks. Keeping them cold makes a PC run super duper crazy fast!
