"I am very upset to find out that my 15-year-old son has been able to access and download pornographic images from 'Morpheus,' an Internet peer-to-peer site similar to Napster. I thought he was just downloading music!" wrote a mom named Candy from Kansas on the Web site NetFamilyNews.

Karen Thomas (writer of this crap) rubs me the wrong way.....she sounds like a fuckin momo smuck who doesn't have a clue.....bah just IMHO....so don't go flaming over it.

Anyway I'm wondering what yall think. In the serious as well as comedic realm.....

Hey, nice article, btw what the hell is she thinking? Does she think her son, 15, uses a file sharing program and only downloads music. That's kind of sad, who would have figured she would have thought any different? THE KID IS FIFTEEN!!! Of course he is going to have at least ONE porn file!! LMFAO!! IT's not like he is an angel!! Although if he was, angels can have fun too!! =D

Let me get this right, its okay for kid to steal music (technically that is the case) but not okay to look at porn?

That is bit hypocritical if want to get moral about it. Also historically teenagers (boys in particular) are very adept that finding this stuff so its not a plague that showed up with filesharing. In my day there was no p2p and we find our share of porn usually in closet where the adults hid thier secret stash, lol.

The problem with raising kids is that you need to do active parenting. TV, internet, chatrooms, radio and finally the state will not parent kids for you. If you as parent you are too busy to notice what you kids are watching on TV, who are they talking to in chatroom, where they go on the internet and what they are downloading, its a reflection your failure not society's. Tech is not to be considered the future's babysitter so it has to be modified to child safe. It's parent job to keep their child safe, and if you are not capable of it do everyone a favor and use a condom.

"When my 12 year old daughter asked for this for her birthday, I kind of wondered if she was too old for it, but she seems to LOVE it. Her friends love it too! They play for hours in her bedroom with this great toy. They really seem to like the special effects it offers (the sound effects and vibrating). My oldest daughter (17) really likes it too! I recommend this for all children."

Why, just the other day, I downloaded this one called "Toe-sucking incestuous momma-whores want it NOW" and when I was done I was shocked to see it was porn. I was also shocked the second and third times. This has got to stop!

Boys should be raised by their fathers, imho. I mean, what kind of role model tells their kid that sex is bad? Jeez, where'd the little critter come from?

Wow, funny how people out there actually have names like "Candy" and wonder why a 15 yr old is able to get porn.

Children are curious, and I personally think its better for them to be exposed to porn so they can become less interested in it sooner. Otherwise, you'd have a generation of fat, sexually deprived middle aged losers salivating at every young thing on the screen while they chat about it in porno and movie forums.....oh wait, we already have that.

Well, my fellow Americans, the information age has boomed and hey, you can get anything you want. So your kids can get porn. So the fuck what? Other countries have more explicit porn than ours and their children get exposed to it even more than ours, in fact, if you tune in on regular cable in Europe after midnight, you can see some softcore action.

Face it, we should learn that teaching children at an early age and perhaps giving them guidance will help them have healthy sex lives afterwards as well as strong relationships. Those of you who block all channels except PAX and PBS, and use net filters are going to find that little Jimmy is gonna need some therapy someday, or maybe never get him out of your house.

That is unfortunate, but alas, part of the unregulated nature of things on the net and particularly in P2P. I myself was victimized when I spent hours and hours downloading "Triple X" only to find myself with a copy of "Legally Blond." True, I'd rather look at Reese Witherspoon than Vin Diesel, but I digress...

If it's child porn you're talkin about, we've been hashing that out in past threads and probably shouldn't jump on it again -- since we all agree it sucks but can't agree what's to be done if anything.

As for other porn, well, people have a weird sense of humour. It helps to develop a thick skin if yer gonna set foot outdoors at all. Not trying to be insensitive -- we Canadians have to stick together if we're going to conquer -- I mean, get along with, the rest of the world. :)

"I am very upset to find out that my 15-year-old son has been able to access and download pornographic images from 'Morpheus,' an Internet peer-to-peer site similar to Napster"

First of all, its obvious this person has no clue about anything P2P related. Internet peer-to-peer site??? They know of nothing but the name Morpheus. They don't even realise that Morpheus is now at the bottom of the barrell in the P2P world and used to access the "fasttrack" network. Thats where the "pornographic images" are. Now Morpheus accesses the Gnutella network. But it seems even in the media today, when anything P2P related or "Music Piracy" related is mentioned, Morpheus seems to show up. Just the other day I heard talk about Morpheus. They even refer to Morpheus as if it is its own network. They don't even understand its a client that has access to a network, along with OTHER clients as well. Morpheus, it seems, is just a name. It will, however, make a good decoy.

Candy´s a great name for a porn star...

Why would this shit even be news? A 15 year old downloading p0Rn from Morpheus? Hell, might as well forbid him to use the Internet completely. And keep him away from your dildos, too!

In my country, if you have cable TV, any kid can easily turn on channel 18 at midnight and watch some hardcore stuff. You don´t have to pay for it or anything, and it´s pretty normal for a 15 year old to be awake at that hour! What should we do about that? Hide the TV?

Really, I´ve got a 2 year old son, and if he ever decides to watch or download p0Rn, when he gets to that age, I´d only be worried if he watched kiddie porn or something like that "necrocam". Let´s face it, porn made the Internet what it is today, wether you like it or not.
Of course you have to draw the line somewhere, but this type of "oooh, my son is looking at pussys on the Net!" attitude is just pointless. I mean, he´s got to learn somehow...

LOL - nothing to worry, we haven't come that far yet. The site is the home of a Danish movie, in which three teenagers decide to put a webcam in the coffin if one of them should die. The movie is about an hour long, has English subtitles and can be viewed right there on the site. The only gross sequence is in the last few minutes of the movie, and it isn't any worse than what we're used to from Hollywood.

Collideous: I'll prolly check that out just cuz it sounds odd. Who knows may be some great artistic movie, eh? How many stars would you give it?

Strike: Yup, it's everywhere and no crappy 'net nanny' software will stop a kid from getting it. I recall seeing a page full of ways to shut that crap down. (Yup....'netnanny' let the site through).
And even if no one posted how to kill it....I'm sure someone would figure it out. It's not all that hard to whack processes and remove stuff from startup.

MoonMan: LMFAO.....nope I'll try and keep my kids if I have any away from 10 inch dicked crackhead homeless dudes screwing the citys crackwhore. I won't bother with it if it's just nudes. I mean sure it's sexual but it's only a nake female....bah or male form. Theres not actual sex in it so it shouldn't warp them to bad if at all. I for one believe if you let your son look at playboy type stuff while he's younger he won't grow up to be some sex crazed werido. Cuz it'll get outta his system at a younger age. Sorta like letting yer kid smoke 10 packs of cigarettes and waiting for him to go barf cuz of it then vowing never to smoke again.

Totally right...that´s why I said we have to draw the line somewhere.
Next thing you know, your kid would be feeling bad for not having a 10-inch dick. And he would be left thinking that all women are that easy and like to hear a man say "ooo baby, I´m gonna pump that ***!".

But the point here is that, when a paper like USA Today goes to the trouble of publishing a story warning that 15 year-olds can get P0Rn on the ´net, how are we supposed to take this seriously, and, for that matter, most of what the "mainstream" way of life or culture tells us about the ´net? How is this still news in the year 2002?
Next you thing you know, P2P will be considered an "instrument of Satan for the spreading of depravation and moral iniquity", when this type of stuff has been going on on the Internet since it´s creation. Once again we see proof that the ongoing "P2P wars" are decisive for the future of the Internet and the transmission of information in general. There´s a lot more to this than just shutting down some geeks´ hobby, wether it is downloading music or wanking to some porn pics...

Whether or not your talking to me I think I shall answer.

First of all I think you need to stop by dictionary.com and run some of those words through.. but no need now since I think I have deciphered this code.

I, nor anyone else, in THIS thread said that they were bible thumpers.

Second, I don't think it is really a good idea to expose children to sex (well besides the birds & bees talk) at an early age. A boys curiousity is natural yes, but lolita gangbangs aren't ( at least not for anyone I know). I think it is every parents responsability to keep their children away from porn as best they can.. if the child REALLY wants to look at porn then he will but by that time he is probably old enough.

Exposing a boy at an early age to pornography promotes sex at an early age, makes him more likely to disrespect women when he is older, makes him less likely to take step to have safe sex and therefore have increased chances of catching a venerial disease or get a girl pregnant.

The child you are raising isn't just a reflection of you, but, more importantly, an individual going out into the world. Teach him/her the RIGHT values (like to always pay for the dinner and movie less get a kiss on the cheek and a lonely ride home) and the consequences of premature sex and unsafe sex.

Third, the fact that you mention taking advantage of bi-polar girls shows your inadequecies and the need to be "higher on the totem pole" then your mate/girl friend/victim. Really, is your penis THAT small?

I completely disagree here. It's not exposure to pornography that is in any way responsible for sexual diseases and teen pregnancy - it's the lack of knowledge. Just look across the border, and you'll see that the US struggles with teen pregnancy and abortion are an absolute non-issue in much of the developed world. You dropped the keyword in the paragraph that followed - teaching. Rather than shielding kids, and monitoring their web usage, all parents need to do is to approach such subjects openly and talk about them with their kids. Education folks, education!

Webcams in coffins? (http://www.omroep.nl/vara/necrocam/)

Ive seen that movie: its a briljant idea: when i die please give me a negrocam.:devil

And this a dutch movie, not danish!!!!

You're right, that is a very important part of the issue (I didn't mean to say we should shield our children, I ment to teach them, but I choose the wrong words and it sounded wrong). It is very important that parents talk to their kids about these touchy subjects. Knowledge is power and knowing is half of the battle (sheesh this is starting to sound like a bad G.I. Joe episode).

Now for your viewing pleasure, I will insert not ONE but TWO bouncing frogs. :fire :fire

I just wanted to quote some jay and silent bob quotes from J&SBSB, i think they loosely apply...

"What the fuck is the internet?"

and this is probably one of my favorite lines that would actually apply to this thread....

"The internet? What's that?

It's a place used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography together."

this is probably what the kid was saying after he downloaded one porno...

"Thats it man, no more hairy bush nuns for us"

(the rest of the movie is funny as hell, i'd quote more but i dont think the mods would like it :), you can check some famous quotes out at http://www.moviequotes.com/repository/titles/249892.html )

ok..............maybe this didnt apply at all to this thread, but one of the quotes sorta did......I think i need help

2) it was gay porn
3) it was child porn
4) anyyhing similar to the above

Kids are gonna get it anyway they can. Let him be the master of the pussy in his own right.

So it would be horrendous if the kid was gay or curious about gay porn? I think that if you're going to accept heterosexual porn you have to accept gay porn too. Telling "Lil Jimmy" that he can look at heterosexual porn but condemning the others as unacceptable unfairly classifies homosexuality as being on the same teir of social acceptability as child pornography and bestiality. Lumping homosexuals in with people who have sex with animals and children will most likely reinforce the negative stereotype (that gays are sickos who will molest your kids, dog, and favorite sweater if given the chance). Aside from that, I do agree with you on the topics of child porn and bestiality. : P

Where in there did I say that we should shield children rather than educate them?

It's not like I have children right now, or even want them anytime soon lol.. so it's not like I am practicing any of this. It is just what I hope to follow and do when I DO have them.

Ok, i agree, lumping them with animal fuckers may be going to extremes.
But i do not have to accept homosexual pornography as a "norm" because it is not. A norm is anything widely accepted
and in the majority. And homosexuality is not.

Why must people make an issue about accepting homosexual anything? Most people do not care that homosexuals do not accpept straight porn,or the heterosexual lifestyle. Why should they take issue with us for not wanting to see 2 men fudge pack each other?

Quite frankly, Most people view homosexuality as being gross as hell ( I know i do) If they have such strong convictions for what life they live, they should care not weather we accept it (or not)

I really don’t believe you guys (male and female).

First, I think you’ve all forgotten what it was like to be ‘kids’.
- how you couldn’t wait to grow up and be ‘adults’
- how you were interested in sex (how much of what you ‘picked up’ didn’t register/ make sense – then)
- how when you heard adults making sexual references you didn’t even recognize them as such
- how ‘adult’ jokes (sexual) went right over your head

So, now you are ‘adults’ and want to maintain that barrier that makes you ‘superior’ to ‘kids’.
- you want to protect children’s natural normal healthy interest in the world around them -Not
- totally disregarding children’s curiosity because: what they will find will be understood at an adult level – with adult consequences -Not

“…Mommy, Daddy where do I come from?
Well dear… the papa bee and the mama flower…
No, no, Pat comes from Cleveland. Where do I come from?…”
