Downloading a torrent from 2 (or more) trackers at the same time?

I have a couple of good trackers, but on 0 day stuff sometimes DL speeds could be better. I can often find the exact same torrent on 2 or more sites. Is it possible to sync two or more torrents (from different trackers/exact same files) and download the simulateously without any overlap? I can run two at once now, but some of the time they'll be getting the same bits. Just looking to increase my overall swarm size. I use uTorrent, but if it can only be done on another client, hey...

If it is indeed the same file, uTorrent will ask you if you want to add the trackers to the existing file. I hunt for more sources if I am using open trackers.

I hunt for more sources as well with open trackers, but with private ones, I've always been a little wary of DLing from more than one at a time because I've never been quite certain how it would effect reporting. Is it at all possible that uT could report the cumulative activity from all peers to both trackers?

In my experience, under normal operations and no hacks\credit cheating, the trackers "keep track" of what goes where. If in uTorrent, you have 3 trackers for a 1gb file, then depending on how many connections and speed there is alloted etc you get individual results. This is a Multitracker system of exchange proposed by John Hoffman.

Tracker 1 - Larry = total upload 275mb 27.5%
Tracker 2 - Moe = total upload 425mb 42.5%
Tracker 3 - Curly = total upload 300mb 30%

You get credit for what you upload to each. They all report 100% completed, but INITIALLY not 1:1 ratio, until you have seeded back the respective download amounts. This is a basic equation in the mix. Yea! for those of you who have hella fast upload speeds.

So with this scenario you get faster download speeds, but because some of the sharing is devided among trackers, or sent out via DHT, it will take longer to seed the sites for the right ratio.

uTorrent keeps track of cumulative stats for your client use overall. So when I ask for "Help > About" screenshots from someone, it is these tell-tale signs that I am looking for.

If uTorrenrt doesnt ask you to add the trackers to the existing torrent, then it's a given that the hash is diffrerent and you cant combine.

Yeah utorrent always ask me if I want to load the trackers if it is the sam efile if it doesnt ask it means the has is diffrent like Krell said

I would think behavior like that is likely to get you banned if found out on private trackers. Not because you will be reporting wrong stats, but because you will, whether you like it or not, be connecting the peers you connect to.. at least if you are using DHT, peer-exchange etc. to get the file faster, which is the point in the first place.

The only way you can download 0-day torrent from several different places at the same time, while being sure you are not breaking any rules, is to download separate rar files from each tracker, like on a 1CD release, the first 25 files from one and the rest from another. You may even have to use separate clients, since e.g. Vuze does not like having files titled exactly the same loaded more than once.

If you do this with the entire torrent, you can end up overwriting the pieces you are already downloading, making you download much more data than you need to.

On the upload side, this could help those who download very popular torrents and aren't able to max out their u/l link.
If the hash is not the same, one could still try to find out what are the files that the client will identify as complete and seed only them.
This is what usually happens when i switch trackers mid-download: my client rechecks the file and the operation set me back 2 or 3 percent.
Of course, you should ask the admins on both sites if that is allowed( I don't see any reason why wouldn't it be)

But would the tracker identify this as if you were using DHT? Or would the admins treat you as if you did use DHT, since, no matter what, you are downloading from peers that aren't from the tracker?

If looking at the uploading side, there is no reason to cross download, just cross seed. And you can still be using two clients for that.

When the torrent is complete, I don't see any reason why it would be flagged, since you aren't connecting peers from different trackers to each other.
