Suggestions For Textbook Torrent Sites?

I'm just starting my spring semester, and college textbooks are hurting my wallet. I can't afford to buy all my books this year, so I'm looking for alternative cheap, or free means of getting the some textbooks I need.

I'm looking for recommendations of good sites for finding pdf's (or other file types) of textbooks. My college always updates the textbooks used in a class every semester to the latest edition. So I can't buy textbooks off of students from the previous semester.

I can't even sell off my old textbooks to accrue the necessary funds to buy this semesters books (I'd get less than 10% for my old editions...keeping them is more valuable to me than selling them for such a small return).

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the library? Often nobody borrows such books so you can just keep on renewing your loan :) . It worked for me :)

I usually went to class first to get the syllabus. Usually professors would list the chapters and content they would study that semester. If I couldn't find it in the library, I usually bribe a classmate of letting me borrow their book and give them a hot ten dollars to copy what I need (but I use my copier at work to do the copying, not a good suggestion if you don't have access to a copier you can use for free.)

I got through my business law class with just Googling definitions and court cases. I didn't pay 150 dollars for the book.

Thats a good idea! Too bad I spent hundreds of dollars on books over the years :(

In this last semester I ended up shelling out $500+ on books alone.

Finding a reliable torrent site with at least a minimal catalog of textbooks would definitely be great, but I don't have the patience to seek invites. Thankfully Federal Pell grants work well enough on their own. Well.. that and a lot of student loans that will eventually bury me in debt.

I often looked at Amazon for cheap books, because chances are, the books won't exist as torrents. Have been looking into capturing books myself but I'm undecided on the tehcnology to use.

There is not a massive selection there. But it#s a pretty new tracker, only just growing. And specifically geared towards academia.
