Recently I stumbled across the website of the flat earth society. (http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/Flatearthsociety.htm)

Naturally, I was quite sceptical but taking time to read through the materials carefully, and analyse the evidence for myself, I am now a convinced believer.

Here is one example of the powerful reasoning used by these careful sceptics.

Once again, picture in your mind a round world. Now imagine that there are two people on this world, one at each pole. For the person at the top of the world, (the North Pole), gravity is pulling him down, towards the South Pole. But for the person at the South Pole, shouldn't gravity pull him down as well? What keeps our person at the South Pole from falling completely off the face of the "globe"?

There is no doubt in my mind that the earth is flat. The round earth is taught in schools as an established fact, but as we can see the evidence is far from conclusive. It's probbaly part of a left-wing conspiracy to deceive people and make money.

Most definately flat, its also the center of the universe. Also the clouds are actually cotton candy and the base is actually a cookie crust.

well the gravity is coming from the center of the earth so thats why its pulling the person towards the center of it, just like a backhole.... gravity not from outside the earth... if you didn't take physics in high school this crap will fool u. defenatly a scam.

the earth is flatter than paris hilton's chest.

i never understood what the argument was all about...it's us thats moving in circles and blaming the shape of the earth for it. the notion thats it's round is the result of pop fiction, jules verne being a prime proponent of this blasphemous theory.

All mater exerts a force of gravity on other mater. This was proven by an experiment performed long ago and quite a few times since then to increase the accuracy of the gravitational constant. Anyway the way they were able to prove that all mater has gravitational pull is as follow. First they took a very dense heavy metal ball (I believe it was lead) and placed it in the middle of a vacuum sealed chamber. They then took a ball of much lower mass and attached it to a torsion balance to read any force acting on the smaller ball. What they discovered was that there was indeed a force on the smaller object. Using different masses they were able to come up with a gravitational constant that applies to all matter. So in other words we are all so fat we produce our own gravity.

If you want to calculate the gravitational pull you exert towards other objects or just how fat your friends mom really is heres the formula

Force = ([6.67428*10^-11 n(m^2)(kg^(-2))]*mass of the first object*your mass)/(radius of the second mass)

6.67428*10^-11 is the gravitational constant.

The Qu'ran says the earth is flat period! Laid out like a carpet with the mountains serving as pillars to hold up the sky so it doesn't crush us. No more debate is required, it has been written, it is the truth.

F*ck the NASA!

Can anyone say "perspective?"

Gravity is indeed a strange force, so strong, in fact, that it can allow the same matter to exist in two places at the same time within strong gravitational fields (black holes).

Your mama's so fat she makes matter exist in two places at once. Now theres a good one.

if earth is flat why is there summer in Australia in December? why is it cold near north /south pole? why do we have day and night? why is every other planet round? why did church apologized to Galileo Galilei for not believing that he was right about earth being round? it goes on and on.

i say it is flat, simply because it has to be flat

Good grief. If it was flat then the sun would almost literally turn off as if it had a lightswitch (not a dimmer). If it were flat, then we could assume it would take some variation of a pancake shape. No matter what you want to call it, there'd be 2 sides. The sun can only be on one side or the other. If you have more than 2 sides, it's no longer flat, but becomes a geometric shape. So assuming one again it's flat (2 sides), there would be no twilight, dawn or dusk. There'd be no atmosphere (on the flipside) to reflect the lingering sunlight back to the flat plane. And I extremely doubt there'd be any/enough atmosphere at the outer perimeter of the "flat" earth to achieve dawn/dusk for either side.

I feel for anyone who could possibly think this planet is flat.

Yeah, they've never really got past that sticky "horizon" issue. (7 miles till the curvature of the earth blocks your sight)

You people and your 3 dimensions. The world only has 2 1/2 dimensions. Therefore the earth cannot have a bottom side "like a pancake" as it does not exist.

The poll is flawed.

The Earth is both, flat and round. It's really a matter of context and perspective. Really deep shit, like, wherever you go, there you are.

Above the equator, you flush the toilet, the water spins one way, below the equator, is spins opposite.

If shit rolls down hill, then it would all have to accumulate somewhere at some point, which explains a lot about Zero Paid.

The downward spiral of Zero Paid; an analogy to an ecological disaster . . . profound indeed.

youre being very naive, robincheeta. The north pole and south pole do not actually exist. I'll bet you have never actually been to the North or South Pole, and most likely you don't even KNOW anyone who has been there. That's because the government (read NWO) tries very hard to discourage people from going there and actively prevents people from living there.

Also we have day and night because the sun operates like a flashlight in the sky, shining light on small parts of the Earth at a time.

What makes you think all planets are round? Have you ever been to another planet? Thought not. Man walked on the moon 40 years ago. On that timescale affordable space travel should have been available years ago, yet the government restricts space travel to a tiny number of hand picked individuals. Makes you wonder what they have to hide.

Do you believe in the moon landing? I have been told about the flat earth theory before, but those who usually talk about it also believe in other conspiracies.

the earth is like a pancake, both round and flat.

now if the moon were butter instead of cheese, the only thing missing from having a delicious cosmic breakfast is the syrup.

I've already proved elsewhere on these forums that the moon landings were faked.

dude ur in deep shit, wtf happened to right to travel anywhere? well north pole or south pole is easier to get now days with all the globe warming.. (now don't tell me the you don't believe in it..) If ur rich enough you can travel space like the microsoft guy. i costs millions to make the spacecraft, fuel(don't tell me that fuel is some made up shit) etc.. and didn't we go on moon a couple of times, with apolo space crafts, now days we don't go to moon because it cost too much and there is no need to go as most of the data has been collected, I mean they just don't go there to take pictures?

just a side note but
Galileo never actually said that the earth was round
by his time it was pretty well known that the earth was not flat
He and Copernicus proposed that the Earth was not the center of the universe and also was not fixed.
The Church as far as I know didn't apologize
They said he was a heretic and made him repent.
They all put him under house arrest for the rest of his life.
