I have starband (its all there is here), fair download, no upload.
When someone uploads a Mp3 from me, it is from 3.1 to 1.2 but when I download it is 0.05, 0.10. sometimes but rarely 0.15:green3.
I need help bad, 10 to 15 hrs to download a Mp3 is just plain ignorant. I have tried messing with the settings and came back to default. Heeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllpppppppppppppppppp:mellow

Most likely, Starband just doesn't want you to share files (http://www.starband.com/join/acceptableuse.htm).

Starband is my ISP (I dont know how to spell sattilite). I am using windows 2000 Pro and by the settings, I mean time out settings, but I have reset to default. Sorry about the lack of information but my frustration level is very high at this point :D. I am using WinMx and cant get Napmx to connect to the site even without firewall ( Just ant my day ) :D

Let me start off by saying how much I appreciate all the help. I changed the ports and am now downloading at 4.8, est time 15 min download. Hehe, a lot better than 12 hours.
Now I have another problem, I have 4 people timed out waiting for a connection to download off me, I got to share somehow. make that 6 people now.
That thing is now downloading at 5.92, hehe, it dosent say what kind of a connection he has.
Hmmm, got to get this thing back to sharing. Everybody wants my grandkids kind of music, only had one person download my type of music. Dosent anybody like classical anymore?:shy
thanks gentleman

Don't worry, ancient, Krell is more 'green' than you, not knowing what Starband was, and not understanding that it's all you have available in your area. And it appears, he is also in the StarTrek fanclub.
However, despite the latency, satellite should still allow fairly good download speed. Due to the high latency it may take longer "waiting for network response", but once they start and get going, you should be able to download fairly fast. Upload is very low, just as you describe. Nominally, as a 56k modem or 64K ISDN. You can even note, that within winmx, if you go to the connection type settings, winmx groups Satellite with 64K ISDN. By the way, this is the setting you should have picked for proper operation of winmx with your Satellite connection. So the first point of action you should take, is to pick that setting if you don't have that chosen already.
jeez man, will u stop dissing people.
blahblahblah...whatever. it doesnt make a difference what Internet connection speed you select. im on ADSL and i chose 56k connection setting. doesnt mean ill be downloading at 4k/s. ill still be downloading at high speeds. it's just for other people to know what kind of connection you got. I've come across some people who lie about their connection. why? so there will be less people will be in your que.

-Well, you gotta keep the goonies in line when you're the AlphaMale. Besides, Krell and Grab_grab_grabbin'_his_haddock are my 'bitches'. By the way, could you please ENLARGE that sideways graphic image in your signature that you put on every one of your messages? I don't think it's quite large enough. Can you blow that thing up about maybe 5 times that size, and then maybe orient it upside down? Thanks.
AlphaMale? more like ZetaBreath?
I like my name, but your probably sad you didn't bother with putting the ascii charaters in there. Bit lazy are we?
About the signature, your right I was thinking about making it larger. And maybe dedicating a part of it for you. Put your avatar in next to the girls feet, and blow your head large enough to fit your ego!

it is impossible that you recognize anyone
as real leecher.
its because the patch that let available slot number
" 0 " has spreaded to some leecher and trader
on winmx.
have you ever aware those who show " 0 of 0"
users?
they have already use this patch.
if they choose "0 slot per user" instead of choose
" 0 slots at all user",they can pretend to share.
i am afraid that this patch become popular.
i dont tell a lie,in the fact " 0 of 0 users exist onwinmx.

i didnt notice a difference. i downloaded at over 100kb/s before on 56k connection setting. and 40kb/s average.
i share my stuff and big whooptiedoo if im lying about my connection.
you're considered a leecher only if youre not sharing a damn thing. i could care less if someone was pretending to be on 56k or 14k for that matter. if theyre not sharing, i dont let em in.
u must also have alot of time on your hands to write that much.

ok so skorchie may have a head that makes a zeppelin look like a ping pong ball, and is filled with just as much hot air, but youve got to admit he has a point here.
you are a leecher whoa and you and your kind are making winMX unusable for those who actually give a shit about p2p.
not that it bothers me i only use winMX to trade these days - precisely because winMX is full of asswipes like you.
