Retrieve codec after download?

I've been using Utorrent for ages and only recently starting getting this problem.

After downloading a movie (which still takes ages by the way) all i get is a message saying

***Warning: Unable to process video, please get the correct codec from http://codec.uploadvid.net*****

I've noticed people mention it before in the comments section of some torrents but not if there's anything you can do about it, or if its safe to download the codec? (It takes you to a page that wants you to fill in an application........) I know it sounds well dodgy but whats the deal???!!! Help!

anything that demands you download a file/codec/plugin after starting it is dodgy as youve already worked out...

kill it and get a clean download :icon_thum

its the file not the codec is the issue- if you dled something and it needed an additional codec it simply wouldnt play-

if your getting it on multiple files its time to clean your system
