Lately Ive downloaded quite a few kung fu movies on emule. However, when I play them they dont have any subtitles (cantonese speech) even though they have English titles. Could it be a codec prob? (doubt that)..could it be..I freaking dunno! Maybe they dont have subtitles but..titles in English, found on edonkey..should have subs shouldnt they..hmm..any ideas??

Well, Did it say that it comes with subtitles when you were downloading the movies? I mean most movies that arent spoken in english have subtitles but I wouldn't think its a codec problem. Maybe it's just that it didn't come with subs? =D

Sounds like someone ripped it off an English disk but didn't rip the subtitles.
So you got the English opening with the original raw soundtrack. Is it in OGM format? If it is you can use a few media players (WMP 6.4 with OMG plug in filters comes to mind) to display the subpack that's built into the OGM package. If it's AVI your SOL on understanding it....

You can try finding the .sub/.srt or whatever file here - http://dvd.box.sk/indexN.php3?pid=subtitles&prj=subt - and using VirtualDub with the SSA or VobSub plugin to overlay the subs or just use MircoDVD to play them back.....but it all depends on the format of the sub. With .sub MicroDVD should play it on it's own....with some of the other formats you may be stuck re-encoding the movie with VirtualDub.....which sucks ass. LOL
