first thing i would try is getting the latest version (23a) and then maybe if it's still a problem, tell us about your computer...OS, CPU Speed, RAM

if you are using win98 you need to go to preferences and turn the connections and file sources WAY down. Win98, me, ect cant handle the number of connections emule tries to make.

Your problem does indeed sound like too many connections. Win98 & Emule don't really fit together very well. My win98 computer has had all the problems recounted in varous forums. Recently I used 22c mod 1d which I found on a forum page. It actually works which is why I am reluctant to change it to whatever eMule configuration that replaces it this week. The old client eDonkey seems to hardly work at all so I hope that the developers of eDonkey release a new version & I can get rid of eMule. Overnet has areal nice new gui & no net. I hope this client finallt catches on but I can not get many downloads started useing it. Probably because there are just not enough of a user base yet. The entire donkey network in whatever configuration you wind up with will require patience & the ability to put up with varous problems. The rewards are tremendous however which more that make up for the deficincies.

Had Blue screens on win98 too. Current version 0.23b seems to have solved this issue.

My blue screens occured mostly when power saving was activated, monitor suspend or simply powering off the monitor. With the latest version I only had one blue screen . I did experience some system lock-ups while starting eMule though...

I used to have problems too but i found out that if I deleted the server.met file in the emule folder i was able to startup without any problems. I also use win98 and emule 0.24b. I hope it works for you too.

I still have problems with the latest version (win98). Lowered the connections but nothing. Well...who cares. Really slow downloads and no mp3s anyway.
