I tried tried the service pack and it was very buggy. I would wait till the final comes out and when everything becomes compatible with it. I hope it will get better as more Release Canidates come out. I'll just stick with sp2 for now.

I'ver heard plenty of rumors that they will disable any pirated copy of XP it finds, but I havent put that to the test yet.
They started locking out pirated Vista, and since Vista sales are so abysmal, I think they will make a sorted effort to get people off of XP to increase Vista "revenue".

I'm gonna download SP3 and slipstream my corporate copy, load it up in VMware, install with a pirated key and see how it goes.

I have a Black XP Pro on my computer and I just installed SP3 and have not had any problems yet. System seems to load quicker. Have noticed that system uses more memory than before...not much though. Guess it will take a little more time to really figure the new install out and really see what it does. Downloaded yesterday, so everything is really new to me. If anyone knows more, please let us know.

I don't quite understand your termology. If you don't mind, please explain how SP3 is a timebomb.

I don't quite understand your termology. If you don't mind, please explain how SP3 is a timebomb. It is what normal people call a "joke" defined in websters as: 1 a: something said or done to provoke laughter; especially : a brief oral narrative with a climactic humorous twist b (1): the humorous or ridiculous element in something (2): an instance of jesting.

No I mean it expires your copy of windows in 180 days if its not updated before the clock runs down. Time bombed.
"While the SP3 update is available for anyone, we want to remind you that it is pre-release software, and is time-limited, and is intended for IT professionals, developers, and other technically-inclined individuals that are comfortable using pre-release software." - Anthony Mann [MSFT] Moderator @ forums.microsoft.com (http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2572644&SiteID=17)
