Just to kinda derail this topic into something a little useful... If I've got x264 files and the VLC player, do I need any kind of codec along with that? When I tried watching the x264 files on my iMac (about a year old with a gig of ram) I get horrible skipping.

PS - Kudos to whoever gave this guy the huge rep points. :)

I'll try that, thanks. I'm not really a mac user either. It's my wife's computer, it just happens to be set up right next to the tv, so we use it to watch shows.
