One of our users forwarded us this confusing email "from the RIAA" this morning:

That was apparently a script kiddie.....not the RIAA! And What.cd is located outside the US isn't it?
But BRIEN has said that they are on a list to be shut down, but given BRIENS track record and how they always seem to botch p2p busts, who knows?

They will have a hell of a time since they announced the sites they are going after, and also they said how they were going to do it (via the hosting company).
Not that hard to just find a new host before this all goes down, or at least set up a backup host in case they succeed in getting the servers shut down.

Yeah, kinda surprised me that they announced this in such a public way. That is like saying to a drug dealer, "OK, get ready....because your site is gonna get raided and your drugs confiscated!"
But in less than an hour, they can move their whole operation to some where else!
Same is true for these sites, they just find another provider and go elsewhere.
It almost makes me wonder if BRIEN thinks that if they make this announcment, maybe people who run these sites will just move out of their jurisdiction?
Saving them time and money shutting them down..arresting the owners and going to court?
