I think Deimos, was sure that having servers in Canada, was safer than in Netherlands. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. I've always wondered why they did not choose to set the anchor in Sweden, as it appears a lot more friendly culture towards torrent trackers. RIAA, is flexing its muscle in North America due to a strong lobby and stupid governments. I expect Demonoid to be back for sure, but it will be sometime until they find a new home.
The ironic thing is that ISOHUNT went through the same scenario about a year and half and the managed to move their business and servers to Canada. It is obvious that CRIA is trying to make an example out of Demonoid and send a strong message to the community.

More likely the Canadians will be without it but the rest of us in real countries will still have it.

But we/you can still do our bit by helping the people who still have unfinished torrents.
Just carry on seeding as before because you will still connect to those people.
Okay so you may not get anything toward your ratio, but so what.....

One other point I should of mentioned in my earlier post is that for every torrent that people either Stop, Remove or Delete before uploaders complete is a bonus point for the RIAA/MPA industry.
Not to mention that most of those people who do get stopped will probably only go elsewhere to find another torrent, thus putting more strain on the other site and bringing more into focus to the RIAA/MPA the other sites download rate for them to target next.

I resent that statement, I'm Canadian and it's very much a real country the last time I checked. Are you one of those idiot-savants who has a problem distinguishing between reality and fantasy? Geography was never your strong subject. Too bad!!
Could this be related to Writers strike in US?
Now that the networks have started a multitude of reruns, they don't want us to watch anything too intellegent, which you or I might download. Roll with the punches.

I'm guessing Demonoid will have to seek its new placement either in east Asia (Hong Kong/Malayasia) or northern Europe (Sweden). Unfortunately, bandwidth in east Asia is very expensive, so we'll just have to wait.

IsoHunt servers are in Vancover B.C., jackal. As far as, CRIA it is very much a Canadian corporatian representing the interests of RIAA.

I think a lot of people are still stuck to using Gnutella or even Kazaa which are much more risky for d/l and u/l than bitT or Usenet protocols. Encryption should become everyone's standard for moving large amount of data, as RIAA and MPAA go on a new offensive!! The people who get caught are usually very poorly informed about p2p idea.

I am in demonoid withdrawal. Of all the torrent sites it was by far my favorite. So much stuff posted every day, and interesting stuff. I found the MP3's of a G&R concert that went to when I was a kid back in 1991 that I was shocked to find :)
Only demonoid would have such obscure stuff. Of all the sites it seemed to me that Demonoid was the largest as far as items posted on a daily basis. So I guess its natural that they would target them, just like they targeted Supernova a few years ago :(

India?? are u stupid or just immature? India is a DEVELOPING country and high speed connection costs a lot... and if u ever get a chance reading a newspaper or listen to news, Indian Govt. is surprisingly very tough on piracy due to pressure from bollywood and other film industries. but the population is so huge that its very difficult to stop the black market... but ISP's can block or monitor P2P connection... i don't know if they do it or no..

We're running out of countrys here. Netherlands and now Canada? What the fuck does theese guys have in their belts? Are lobbyists powerfull enough to give sanctions? Are we giving our civil rights away to goverments that are easily sold to corporations? I am in Norway and hate the EU, Nafta and any such display of unions. In the name of the trade they say!
