Hey about a week ago my motherboard fried, i have since replaced it and the pc works fine except for 1 thing.
any time i try any bitorrent client (have tried with several routers and adapters 99% sure they are configured right) My internet grinds to a halt, pages that loaded instantly take 5-10 mins to load and My bitorrent client never downloads at over 10 kb/s even when the average swarm speed is over 700 kb/s I am on a good connection (cox cable).
Any idea what could be happening? i never had a problem before i upgraded my pc, and i didnt change any router settings in between.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Edit : BTW the new motherboard is a Gigabyte Ga-P35-DS3l, only other things ive changed are the power supply network card (cause the original wouldnt work, currently using the dlink dwa-542 adapter) and case

oooh, this is a good one!
have you forwarded your ports properly (http://portforward.com/)? that could be the reason why your downloads aren't as fast as they should be.
if you're browsing the internet while downloading, it's a good idea to limit the bandwidth your client uses, limiting the download speed to about 80% of the max dl speed works for most broadband connections. also limit your upload speeds in the client to 90% of what it's total speed is. check your client FAQ/guide on how to do that.
let us know if that did the trick.

I tried everything you said, Ports are configured right its weird honestly, Its not just the internet thats slow when running any torrent program It takes forever to connect to my router too even.
Also i limited the upload/download speed to way below what my connection can handle, as expected it didnt change anything because it wasnt reaching a very high rate to begin with (usually under 3 kb/ download and 1 kb/s upload, before i changed my pc up i could download at 1,600 kb/s easily and still do other things)
think my record so far since change was a 75 kb/s download but that lasted all of 10 seconds
Edit : the second i close the torrent programs my Load times go back to normal, have also tried reinstalling windows and even on a fresh install it happens

Hmm did a bit more testing and it seems to be a problem with the torrent, i was downloading some Older anime, tried to download a highly seeded torrent and its working fine /shrug?
(were still 100 seeds on the anime, just weird) Internet is working fine and downloading at 200k when downloading nero.

You said you have to installed a new network card, did you also update the drivers for that card?

lol! sometimes its the real stupid things that get you. i remember way back when i first started using the PC, i spent hours wondering why it wouldn't switch on. turned out the power switch on the back of the power supply was on OFF!
reinstalled windows because of a poorly seeded torrent eh? my thoughts are with you.
maybe now you can try to set you client dl and ul speeds to something near your connections full speeds, and see how the new higher seeded torrent works...

I need screenshots because w31n3r's avatar is distracting me too much!
And nothing about this makes sence.
