i'm still pretty much a new user here on ZP, but over the past few months, i've found myself spending the majority of my online time here on ZP, going through its quality(!) posts. hence i feel its my right :drunken_s to gripe about insignificant shit.
the insignificant shit in question here is spam on the boards. don't know why, but this really irritates me. it clutters the forums, impedes the usefulness of the forum spy feature, and generally looks bad for the site...imagine the impression it gives if new users see spam in most sub-forums. the only reason i complain is because it's not occasional, but almost daily. plus, from a commercial point of view, ZPs losing ad revenue since spammers target it's wide (in more sense than one) audience in their hit and run posts.
so here's what i suggest; theres a rep system, lets use it.
1. only users with reputation points higher than 100 can post links.
2. users have to have 20 posts before they can start a new thread, or get new threads started by them pre-moderated before its posted (this will also please those who complain that n00bs tend to start "useless" threads).
3. make the first five posts of new users pre-moderated. this to make spammers wait longer till they can post "shit at spam dot com".
i feel the above will not only see the end of spam at ZP, but also promote quality posts from new members. the first point can surely be done, i've seen it at practice before. the other two points will be more work for Mods, so "assistant mods" can be designated for each sub forum to filter out only spam, and nothing else. i'm sure there would be no dearth of volunteers to do this, it'd be only for the first 5 posts of each new member anyway.
i think jorge and the other mods should consider this, but it's just a thought...
